2003 Season
Carter was outstanding for the Huskers in her freshman campaign, ranking third in team points with 15 on the season.

Carter recorded six goals and three assists last year and posted three game-winning goals for NU. She netted the first goal of her collegiate career against Wisconsin for the game winner in Madison.

She followed that up with another game-winning goal against Mississippi State the following Friday and propelled herself into the starting lineup for the rest of the season.

Carter erupted against Iowa State for five points on two goals and one assist in a 5-1 win.

She was not shy as a freshman, attempting 49 shots in 22 games, including a game-high nine against Missouri. She was third on the team with 21 shots on goal in 2003.

High School
The 2003 Gatorade Circle of Champions Nebraska Player of the Year, Carter helped lead Marian to four state titles and a No. 3 national ranking in 2001. The three-time all-state honoree recorded 172 points throughout her career on 70 goals and 32 assists.

Carter was the honorary captain of the Omaha World-Herald All-Nebraska team in 2003 and the honorary captain of the Lincoln Journal Star Super-State squad in 2002 and 2003.  She led Class A in scoring in 2002 with 20 goals and 10 assists.

A multi-talented athlete, Carter earned four letters in soccer and two in basketball.  On the hardwood, Carter was named an honorable-mention all-state member.  She was also a member of the National Honor Society and was the treasurer for the Young Democrats.

Other Information
Carter led the West Omaha Gladiator Keltics to Nebraska state championships in 1997, 1998, 2001, 2002 and 2003 as the team captain.  Carter also played for the Nebraska Olympic Development Program team in 1999 and 2001.

Personal Information
The daughter of Randy and Georgia Carter, Ashley has one sister, Faith, 6, and two brothers, Randal, 14, and Jonathon, 4.  Ashley was born on Aug. 29, 1985, in Edison, Ga.  She is majoring in biological sciences.
