2002 Season

   Junior Kelly Haxton switched positions for the Huskers in 2002. After seeing most of her time at forward in previous seasons, she spent the 2002 campaign on the right side of the defense. She started in 21 games, attempting four shots on goal. Haxton was one of three natives of Calgary, Alberta, on Nebraska's 2002 roster, joining seniors Christine Latham and Breanna Boyd.

 

2001 Season

   Haxton saw significant action in all 23 games for the Huskers in the fall of 2001, scoring four goals and recording one assist.

   Her first scoring shot was Nebraska?s game winner in a 2-0 victory over Kansas on Oct. 7. She also scored the Huskers? fifth goal in their 8-1 win against Texas Tech on Oct. 28. Her third goal came in a 5-1 win over Baylor in the Big 12 Tournament. Haxton scored NU?s last goal in a 5-0 win over Boston College in the NCAA Tournament.

   Haxton has totaled 20 points on eight goals and four assists through her career.

   She was also rewarded for her prowess in the classrom as first-team academic All-Big 12 selection.

 

2000 Season

   One of several speedsters in Nebraska?s 2000 recruiting class, Haxton scored 11 points for the Huskers in 14 games, before she tore the anterior cruciate ligament in her left knee on Oct. 10.

   Haxton posted four goals and three assists in her freshman campaign, helping Nebraska to a 14-0 start.

   She scored her first career goal on Aug. 29, against Southwest Missouri State, before notching the first multiple-goal game of her career with back-to-back scores against Drury on Sept. 3.

   The Calgary, Alberta, native also scored a goal in Nebraska?s 2-0 victory over then 24th-ranked Missouri.

 

High School

   Dr. E.P. Scarlett High School did not sponsor a soccer team, but Haxton played basketball and volleyball for three years in high school, while running track for three seasons. 

   She finished second in both the 100- and 200-meter events at the Alberta provincial championships, and finished fourth in both the 100 hurdles and the 4x100 relay.

 

Other Information

   Haxton earned substantial international experience by playing with the Canadian National Team during the summer of 2000 at the Pacific Cup and the Gold Cup.

   In 1999, Haxton was a member of the Canadian Under-20 National Team at the Pan American Games. She was an Alberta provincial team member. In addition to playing with several members of the Huskers in the Canadian National Program, Haxton was a teammate of Huskers Breanna Boyd and Christine Latham on the Calgary Selects coached by Gord Ramsey. 

   Haxton also played club soccer for the Calgary Dinos coached by Robin Slot. 

 

Personal Information

   Kelly is the daughter of Hugh and Marlene Haxton and has one sister, Keri, 21, and one brother, James, 15. She was born on Sept. 5, 1982, in Calgary. Haxton owns a 3.639 GPA in marketing.
