2000 Season
Lauren Tatum (pronounced TAY-tum) bounced back for her senior campaign after battling a degenerative knee condition, which limited her explosiveness in 1999. A three-time first-team Academic All-Big 12 selection, Tatum started 20 games and saw action in every contest, scoring 12 points on four goals and four assists for the Huskers.
Tatum scored Nebraska's second goal in a 4-0 win over Richmond in the NCAA Tournament, boosting her career total to three goals in NCAA Tournament action.
Two of her goals came against conference foes (Texas and Texas Tech), and she scored her first goal of the season against Drury.
1999 Season
Tatum earned first-team academic All-Big 12 Conference honors for the second straight season, while appearing in 21 games with one start. She scored four points on one goal and two assists. She produced her only goal of the season in Nebraska's 9-0 win at Colorado, and added assists in wins over Kansas and Iowa State.
1998 Season
Tatum finished in a tie for fifth on the team in scoring with 14 points on four goals and six assists. Tatum was one of only seven players to start all 22 games for the Huskers.
She was one of Nebraska's hottest players in the postseason, scoring six points on two goals and two assists in the Huskers' final three games. She scored the game-winning goal and added an assist for a career-high three points in Nebraska's 7-0 rout of Texas A&M in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. She scored the Huskers' only goal in a 2-1 loss at Notre Dame in the third round of the NCAA Tournament and added an assist in NU's 4-0 win over Missouri in the Big 12 championship game.
Tatum posted her only other game-winning goal in a 2-0 regular-season win over Texas A&M and notched her only game-winning assist in a 7-0 win at Texas Tech.
Along with her hard work on the field, Tatum demonstrated her ability in the classroom by capturing first-team academic All-Big 12 honors.
1997 Season
Tatum earned Nebraska's Most Improved Player Award after appearing in 15 games as a reserve for the Huskers. She scored nine points on two goals, with the first coming in an 8-0 win over Arkansas and the second in a 6-0 win over Kansas.
High School
Tatum suffered an anterior cruciate ligament tear during her junior season but bounced back to earn Louisiana Player-of-the-Year honors as a senior. She scored 40 goals and added 34 assists for Coach Cathi Edwards in four seasons at Scotlandville Magnet High School.
Along with earning all-state honors as a senior, Tatum was a three-time all-district player and a three-time team MVP. She earned Scotlandville's Most Athletic Female Award, while capturing metro and district MVP honors as a senior. She earned all-academic honors four times.
Other Information
Tatum had an outstanding club career, winning six state title in eight years from 1989 to 1996. She was the leading scorer fro the Louisiana D'Feeters in 1995-96, before suffering an ACL injury. Despite losing Tatum, the D'Feeters won the Louisiana state title for Coach Jerome Hickey.
During the 1996-97 season, Tatum led the Baton Rouge Red Star '79 Under-18 team to a 17-7-1 mark with seven goals and seven assists for Coach Troy Duhon. Tatum was a member of the Louisiana Olympic Development Program in 1994, 1995 and 1997.
Personal Information
The daughter of Ed and Pat Tatum, Lauren has one brother, Edward, 22. Lauren graduated with a degree in biochemistry. She was born Sept. 30, 1979.
