1997 Season
Tanya Franck was one of nine Huskers to start all 22 games for Nebraska in the 1997 season. As a defender she scored seven points on three goals and one assist. She started the season with a bang as she scored the two goals, including the game-winner, in the opening game of the season versus DePaul.
Franck went on to earn spots on the first-team All-Big 12 Conference team and the first-team NSCAA/Umbro All-Central Region. Nebraska recognized her with the Most Inspirational Player Award and Aerial Power Award. Off the field, she was selected to the first-team Academic All-Big 12.
1996 Season
Franck was one of the leaders of a Husker defense that wrapped a relentless stranglehold on opponents in 1996. The Huskers allowed only 15 goals in 24 games during the season. The Huskers recorded 14 shutouts and limited opponents to 0.625 goals per game and a sparkling 0.59 goals-against average. Franck started all 24 games for the Huskers after missing the entire 1995 season with an anterior cruciate ligament tear in her left knee. She earned Nebraska's Aerial Power Award and was named to the Big 12 Conference Academic Honor Roll.
Franck scored four points on four assists, including three game-winning assists in 1996. She recorded her first game-winning assist in a 2-0 win over Kansas on Oct. 20. She added a second in a 2-1 win over Baylor on Oct. 25, and her third game-winning assist came in a 3-0 win over Duke in the second round of the NCAA Tournament on Nov. 24.
1995 Season
After a fantastic first season with the Huskers in 1994, Franck suffered an ACL tear in her left knee and missed the entire 1995 season.
1994 Season
Franck tied for third on the team in points. With seven goals and one assist, she tallied 15 points and had game-winning goals against Arizona and Montana. Franck scored two goals each versus Montana and Arizona. Franck's only assist went into the NU record book, as she fed Tara Herbrik for the first goal in Husker history. Franck received NU's Top All-Around Player Award. She also earned recognition on the Big Eight Conference Academic Honor Roll.
1993 Season
Arkansas-Little Rock
Franck was voted the best newcomer during her freshman season at Little Rock. She was the third-leading scorer on a team that went 6-11. She scored nine points on three goals and three assists. She earned all-tournament honors at the Texas A&M Tournament.
High School
Franck led Earl Haig to North York championships in 1992 and 1993. She was named the team's most valuable player four times and was the Earl Haig athlete-of-the-year in 1993. She also lettered in volleyball and basketball and spent five years on the honor roll at E.H.S.S.
Other Information
Franck was a member of the Canadian National Team during the summer of 1997. She started and played every minute of every game for the Canadians in the U.S. Cup in early June. Franck's club team, Scarborough United, claimed Canadian national titles in 1988 and 1992, and provincial championships in 1988, 1990 and 1992. Franck was a member of the 1992-93 Ontario provincial team that won the Canadian All-Star Championships and toured Holland.
Personal Information
The daughter of Paul and Lee Franck, Tanya has one brother, Dwayne, 28. Tanya was a biochemistry major. She was born Dec. 13, 1974.
