1997 Season
Sarah McCrea (pronounced Mick-RAY) appeareed in six games for the Huskers, helping them to a 18-4-0 record and an appearance in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
High School
McCrea earned Nevada Player-of-the-Year honors as a central midfielder for Coach Vince Hart at Green Valley High School. McCrea led Green Valley to Sunrise Division championships all four years of her high school career. She claimed all-conference and all-division honors all four seasons, including Sunrise Division Player-of-the-Year recognition in 1997. McCrea lettered four times in soccer and was the Green Valley team captain in 1996 and 1997. She also lettered one time in track.
McCrea was an outstanding student and earned a spot on the honor roll during every term of her academic career at Green Valley. She graduated with honors and was recognized by the American Academy of Achievement. Her performance in the classroom enabled her to receive academic scholarships at the University of Nebraska.
Other Information
McCrea was the leader of the Arsenal club team that captured the Nevada Under-18 state championships in 1997. The Arsenal also competed at the West Regional Tournament in June.
Personal Information
The daughter of Charles and Pam McCrea, Sarah has two sisters, Katie, 22, and Danielle, 8, and two brothers, C.J., 25, and Jake, 11. Sarah was a nutritional science and dietetics major. She was born Dec. 14, 1978.
