1997 Season
Sarah Deacon appeared in four games, helping the Huskers' to a 18-4-0 record and an apperance in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
High School
Deacon was a first-team all-state midfielder and forward for Coach Kathleen Laughlin at Omaha Central High School. Deacon was a team captain and earned a spot in the Nebraska Shrine Game after her senior season in 1997. She earned four letters in soccer and two more in basketball.
Deacon was also an excellent performer in the classroom, earning a spot on the honor roll throughout her high school career. She was a member of the National Honor Society, the Physics Club and the German Club.
Other Information
Deacon has played in Omaha Gladiator program, one of the finest in Nebraska, throughout high school. She was a member of Coach Chris Perrone's Gladiator El Pique team that captured Nebraska's Under-17 state championship in 1997.
She was a teammate of Husker recruit and Omaha Marian standout Julie Greco on Gladiator El Pique. Husker Stephanie Vacek is also a product of the Omaha Gladiator program.
Personal Information
The daughter of Tom and Candace Deacon, Sarah has one sister, Molly, 17, and a brother, Adam, 13. She was born on Aug. 30, 1978.
