Stacy Messer coached one year as an assistant under Head Coach John Walker. She helped the Huskers to a 14-4 mark in their debut season in 1994.
Messer completed her playing career at Colorado College in 1992, where she was a two-time first-team All-American midfielder/defender, leading the Tigers to three straight NCAA Final Four appearances. She also helped the Tigers to a second place finish in 1989. Messer earned NCAA All-Tournament honors in 1990 and 1991.
Messer played international soccer for the United States Under-19 team for three years, and for the United States "B' National team from 1991-1992. In U.S. Olympic Festival play, Messer earned the silver medal playing win the South team in 1990, and a bronze playing for the South squad in 1993. Messer also played professionally in Japan for Shiroki Serena F.C. from 1992-1993.
Messer was born and raised in Lake Oswego, Ore., and earned her bachelor's degree in economics from Colorado College in 1992.
