Senior (2019-20)
Sarah Sutton didn't compete for the Huskers as a senior. As a student, she earned a Nebraska Bronze Academic Medallion and was named to the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team for her efforts in the community.
Junior (2018-19)
Sutton saw limited action in her junior season, appearing in both disciplines one time against Kentucky. She fired a score of 551 in smallbore and 572 in air rifle. Sutton has posted career averages of 555.08 in smallbore and 576.42 in air rifle over 12 appearances that span three seasons. She was a leader off the range as a three-time member of the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team.
Sophomore (2017-18)
Sutton competed in three matches each in both smallbore and air rifle as a sophomore. She averaged a smallbore score of 554.33 and an air rifle score of 571. Her highest smallbore score came from the first match of the year against West Virginia (562), and her top air rifle score came against Akron (578).
Sutton had a positive impact off the range as an academic All-Big Ten selection and a member of the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team.
Freshman (2016-17)
Sutton competed in eight matches in 2016-17, all of them during the regular season. Her season and career high scores in smallbore and air rifle were 564 and 586, respectively. She also earned a spot on the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team and made the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll in the fall.
Before Nebraska
Sutton, a native of Oak Harbor, Ohio, was a member of Black Swamp Junior Rifle Club under the direction of coaches Fred Sutton, Brad Donoho and Katie Harrington, who was a member of the Nebraska rifle team from 2004 to 2008. Sutton has been shooting since she was 7 years old.
Sutton competed against more than 200 fellow shooters at the 2016 USA Shooting 3-Position Air Rifle National Championships where she placed 38th overall. Her team, the Black Swamp Junior Rifle Team, placed third overall. Additionally, she placed 41st at the 2016 CMP 3-Position Air Rifle Championships and was part of a Black Swamp Junior Rifle Team that placed sixth.
In 2015, Sutton set the range record at the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) Gary Anderson Range. In April 2015, Sutton placed fourth in air rifle at the USA Junior Olympics. Additionally, she won the USA Junior National Competition in three-position air rifle in June 2015.
Sutton was also a member of the honor roll at Oak Harbor High School.
Personal
The daughter of Fred and Elizabeth Sutton, Sarah was born Dec. 13, 1997. She has one sister, Caitlin. Sutton earned academic All-Big Ten honors in 2018 and 2019. She is a four-time Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll selection and a three-time member of the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team. Sutton is majoring in advertising and public relations with a minor in art.
In her spare time, Sutton enjoys making pottery.
