2007-08: Senior Season
Katie Harrington ended a successful career at Nebraska with a 564.43 smallbore average and 575.57 air rifle average during her final season as a Husker. Harrington was an eight-time member of the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll after earning the honor for both semesters of her final collegiate season.
2006-07: Junior Season
During her junior season, Harrington shot in every regular-season match during the 2006-07 campaign, averaging scores of 568 in smallbore and 574.6 in air rifle.
Harrington also continued to be a top student-athlete on the rifle team as she earned a spot on the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll in both the fall and spring for her sixth career academic honor. She posted a perfect 4.0 GPA during the spring semester.
2005-06: Sophomore Season
In her sophomore campaign, Harrington continued to work on both her smallbore and air rifle accuracy. She shot in all but one of Nebraska’s matches during the regular season before emerging during the postseason to shoot a career high of 582 in smallbore and 584 in air rifle at the NCAA Qualifier and NRA Sectional, respectively. At the end of the season, Harrington’s scores earned her Nebraska’s most improved shooter award.
She also performed well in the classroom, earning spots on the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll in both the fall and spring semesters.
2004-05: Freshman Season
A consistent presence in both smallbore and air rifle, Harrington used her freshman season to develop at the collegiate level. She averaged scores of 569.17 in smallbore and 567.92 in air rifle, and her season-high score of 580 in smallbore tied teammate Kim Chrostowski for fourth in single-season freshman scores.
Before Nebraska
Harrington enjoyed great success at the national level during her junior career. A member of the Gateway Sports 4-H Shooting Sport Club, she was a five-time participant in the Junior Olympics. Harrington was the 2003-04 Florida Junior Olympic state smallbore champion, the 2003-04 American Legion air rifle state champion and a 2002 Precision National Finalist. She is a distinguished expert in the air rifle and finished in seventh place at the Women’s Junior National Championship in 2004.
Personal
The daughter of Joseph and Judith Harrington, Katie was born on July 3, 1986, in St. Louis Park, Minn. Harrington, who majors in elementary education at Nebraska, holds an impressive cumulative GPA of 3.9. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from BartramTrailHigh School in 2004, where she was a member of the National Honor Society. She has a younger sister, Kristie (19), an older brother, Matt (24), and a sister-in-law, Marcy.
