2019-20: Senior
Chris Dean wrapped up his Nebraska men's tennis career with four singles wins and a doubles victory in 2019-20. The Papilion native contributed off the court as well, notching a spot on the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team.
Dean had 25 wins in singles play and 20 wins in doubles competition throughout his four years with the Huskers.
2018-19: Junior
Dean battled injuries throughout the year but was able to form a reliable doubles team with sophomore Isaac Nortey, as both combined to a team-best 6-5 record, including a 2-1 mark in Big Ten Conference competition.
The Papillion native also notched four singles wins overall, with two in the fall and two out of the No. 5 spot in the spring season.
2017-18: Sophomore
Dean showed great improvement in his second season with the Huskers, notching a 13-9 overall mark in singles and a 3-4 record in Big Ten play
Dean’s conference record was the team’s second-best, trailing only senior Linus Erhart who finished 5-6. Playing primarily out of the No. 6 spot, Dean went 13-7 during his spring campaign. The sophomore started the season by winning six straight matches, including three at No. 5 and one at No. 4.
In doubles play, the Papilion South graduate joined Dylan Bednarczyk at the No. 3 position for most of his matches. Dean concluded the season with an 8-7 record in the spring and a 2-5 in Big Ten mark.
2016-17: Freshman
Dean joined the Nebraska men's tennis team after competing as one of the state's top players throughout his high school career in the Omaha metro area. As a true freshman adjusting to the pace of collegiate tennis, Dean picked up three singles wins. He aided the Huskers as a doubles player, earning a team-best five victories with five different teammates. Three of his doubles victories came out of the No. 1 position for the Huskers. Off the court, Dean was named to the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll in the fall and spring.
Before Nebraska
Dean graduated from Papillion South High School in Papillion, Nebraska. Chris was the runner up for Class A singles in 2013 and in 2014 was the Class A singles champion under his tennis coach Joseph Cooley. Chris was also the team captain in 2014 and was a first-team all-state selection.
Personal
The son of Chris and Linda Dean, Chris was born on Sept. 7, 1998. Chris has one younger sister, Bianca, 17. Chris is majoring in criminology and criminal justice at Nebraska. He is a six-time Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll selection. He also earned a spot on the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team in 2019 and 2020.
