Outlook: Ryan Jay returns for his fourth season with the Nebraska men's tennis team looking to provide senior leadership and experience for the young squad. A two-time letterwinner, Jay has continued to gain more court time each season. Jay owns a solid serve and return game and will try to grind out wins.

In the Fall (2003): Jay gained more experience while seeing the most significant fall action of his career in 2003. Jay went 1-3 in singles play and 0-3 in doubles action.

As a Junior (2002-03): Jay made his first appearance in singles play at Nebraska, taking an 0-2 mark at the season-opening Rice Indoor Invitational. He made a solid impression on the doubles court at the invite, as he and teammate Florian Preissler went 4-0 to win the ?B’ Flight Doubles championship. During the dual meet season, Jay did not compete in singles play, but earned a 2-7 record in doubles action. In the classroom, he was named to the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll in the spring of 2003.

As a Sophomore (2001-02): Jay saw limited action for the Huskers, playing in three doubles matches during the dual meet season. Jay recorded a 2-1 mark with three different partners. He did not compete in singles competition. Jay was recognized for his efforts in the weight room during the season by being named the team’s lifter of the year. Off the court, Jay was named to the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll during the fall of 2001.

As a Freshman (2000-01): A walk-on, Jay did not see any action in Nebraska’s starting lineup during his first year in Lincoln. In the classroom, Jay was named to the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll during the fall of 2000 and spring of 2001.

High School: Jay was a two-time state champion at Natrona County High School in Casper, Wyo. He posted a 76-2 record during high school and went undefeated in all regular-season matches through his career. He was a four-time all-conference selection and a four-time all-state pick. He also earned two letters in soccer.

Personal: Ryan is the son of Richard and Debby Jay. He was born March 5, 1982, and has one brother, Derek. Ryan is majoring in finance at Nebraska.
