Outlook (2005-06)
Sean Coetzee (pronounced COAT-say) saw limited action in his first season at Nebraska. Coach Kerry McDermott said Coetzee made great strides and gained valuable experience last season and will compete for a spot in the lineup during the 2005-06 season.
As a Sophomore (2004-05)
Coetzee played in one match during the spring 2005 season. He lost in conference play to Mohamed Dakki at No. 6 singles, 6-2, 6-3. During the fall, Coetzee saw limited action, earning an 0-2 singles mark in tournament play. He did not compete in dual meet action.
As a Freshman (2003-04)
Coetzee was a member of the team but did not compete for the Huskers during the spring season.
High School
Coetzee lettered in tennis three times in high school, playing at Kearnsey College, a South African high school that specializes in sports instruction, including tennis, rugby and cricket. During his prep career, Coetzee played at the top spot in the lineup, helping Kearnsey to a No. 2 national ranking in South Africa. Coetzee reached as high as No. 19 nationally in singles play as a junior.
Personal
Sean is the son of Willem and Nancy Coetzee. He was born May 27, 1985, and has one brother, Chris. Sean is majoring in marketing at Nebraska.
