Outlook: Senior Roshan Fernando, a three-year letterwinner, will provide depth for the Huskers. Fernando is listed at No. 7 singles and could play No. 4 doubles, but has the ability to move up the lineup during the spring season. Fernando earned first-team academic all-conference honors in 1998.
Fall 1998: Fernando did not compete during the fall season.
1997-98: Fernando played Nos. 5-6 singles for NU, recording a 5-5 mark.
1996-97: Fernando played both fifth and sixth singles for the Huskers, posting a 1-2 mark. In doubles, Fernando teamed with both Andrew Wiese and Fredrik Riesbeck, playing at the Nos. 2-3 spots for a combined 1-4 record.
1995-96: As a freshman, Fernando joined Riesbeck at No. 3 doubles and compiled a 7-9 mark. Fernando went 1-4 at No. 6 singles.
Other: Fernando won a state title at No. 1 singles his senior season at Lake Ridge. The son of Jumbo and Anne Fernando, Roshan has two younger sisters, Kiren and Anisha. Fernando, a communication studies major, was born on Nov. 27, 1976, in Portland, Ore.
