2023 (Sophomore)

Travis Wong competed in three different events throughout the season. He competed in the NCAA Qualifiers and the NCAA Championships on the pommel horse. Wong set a career best of 14.20 on the pommel horse in a tri-meet with Oklahoma and Simpson College on February 17, 2023. He also set career bests on the rings and parallel bars. 

2022 (Freshman)
Wong competed regularly on pommel horse for the Huskers, earning Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors three times during the 2022 season. He helped the Huskers to a second-place conference finish and fourth-place national finish. 

Before Nebraska
Travis Wong, a native of Miami, Florida, trained at the Florida Gymnastics Training Center (FGTC) under coach Jorge Valdes. Wong was a competitor at the 2020 Winter Cup Challenge and a sixth place team finisher at the 2020 Elite Team Cup. Wong competed at the 2019 Men’s Junior Olympic National Championships and placed fourth on parallel bars. Wong finished 10th in the all-around competition in the 2017 Men’s Junior Olympic National Championships. 

Personal 
Travis Wong was born on May 23, 2002 and is the son of Gary Wong and Brittney Chin-Wong. Travis has one older sister, Kyra. He is majoring in Business Administration.

Travis said he chose Nebraska because “Coach Chmelka and team members welcomed me with open arms durign the school visit as well as answered additional questions when needed. Also, the new gym facility and athlete benefits offered were important positives for the program I would be entering.”
