In NU's meet against Iowa and Minnesota on March 20, Brûlé earned his best career event finish, as he placed first on parallel bars with score of 14.65. Brûlé earned a spot in the event preliminaries for the first time in his career after posting a score of 14.40 on parallel bars in the team qualifier. He ended his career at the NCAA Championships with a score of 12.35 on parallel bars in the event preliminaries.

Against Iowa and Minnesota, Brûlé posted a score of 14.80 on parallel bars for a second-place finish before earning a 14.50 on high bar for another runner-up showing. He was the only Husker to crack the top-three individual event standings against Oklahoma, as he notched a score of 14.45 for third place on the high bar.
In addition to his success in the gym, Brûlé earned spots on the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll in the fall of 2008 and the spring of 2009 as a geography major.
2008: During his sophomore season, Brûlé became one of NU's top gymnasts as a four-event competitor. He finished third on vault against Oklahoma and Air Force before tying for third on floor exercise (14.65) and second on parallel bars (14.55) at Minnesota. Brûlé wrapped up his sophomore year with a 12th-place finish on vault at the NCAA Championship Qualifier with a score of 15.60. He also placed 14th on parallel bars (14.35) and 13th on high bar (14.25).

He was a solid member of the Husker floor exercise, vault and parallel bars lineups all season, and added the high bar during the postseason. Brûlé represented Nebraska at both the MPSF and NCAA Championships on at least three events at each competition.
