2014 (Junior)
Zach Hedval continued to play a steady role on Nebraska's still rings lineup, making an appearance at all eight regular season meets. The junior was a consistent competitor, scoring under a 14 only twice throughout the season.
Hedval was a part of the Big Ten and NCAA Championships teams, contributing solid scores both times.
In the classroom, Hedval claimed spots on the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll in the fall and spring semesters of 2013-14.
2013 (Sophomore)
As a two-year college transfer, Hedval got a sampling of collegiate gymnastics, making the still rings lineup four times throughout the season. The Santee, Calif., native set his personal best of the season in Champaign, Illi., earning a 14.70 on rings.
Hedval was a part of the Big Ten and NCAA Championships teams, appearing in the middle of the lineup both times.
Before Nebraska
Hedval came to Nebraska after competing for Eagle Ridge Gymnastics in Rio Rancho, N.M., where he claimed the 2010 Regional still rings title.
Hedval also competed in the 2010 Junior Olympic Nationals. He competed with Gold Cup Gymnastics in Albuquerque, N.M., between 2006 and 2008, claiming the Level 8 Regional championship in 2007.
Hedval graduated from St. Pius X High School in Albuquerque, N.M., before completing his first two years of college at Grossmont College in El Cajon, Calif.
Personal
Hedval was born June 19, 1991 in San Diego, Calif., and is the son of Stephen and Francine Hedval. Zach has one brother, Erik. Zach is majoring in political science and earned spots on the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll in the fall and spring semesters of 2013-14.
