Before Nebraska
Rome Whimpey competed with Momentum Gymnastics with Head Coach Gabe Connor, who also trained fellow Husker Cole Partridge. Whimpey was a two-time ETC member. He is also a four-time national qualifier. At the 2025 Men's Development Program National Championships, he placed first in the vault and 5th on floor.
Personal
Rome is the son of Brandon and Quincey Whimpey, and he has one younger sister, Monea. In his hometown, he lives on a ranch and has horses. He chose Nebraska because of the resources they have for the athletes. He plans on majoring in communications.
