1995: Senior Season
Rick Kieffer finished off a successful career by winning the 1995 NCAA Championship on the horizontal bar. He captured first at NCAA Championships with a score of 9.8375 on the horizontal bar. Kieffer placed 11th in the all-around and 11th on the vault at the NCAA Championships. He earned All-America honors for the fourth time in his career. Kieffer won the vault at the NCAA West Regionals with a score of 9.60. He placed third on the floor exercise (9.70), fourth on vault (9.60) and third in the all-around (57.375) at the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships. Kieffer set career bests on the pommel horse (9.55) and still rings (9.85) in a dual meet against New Mexico. He set a career-best all-around score at the NCAA Team Finals, posting a mark of 57.95. He was named a Nissen-Emery Award finalist and was a first-team CoSIDA Academic All-American. Kieffer earned National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches All-Academic Team honors in 1995. He was named to Big Eight End-of-the-Year Honor Roll. 

1994: Junior Season
Kieffer claimed All-America honors on still rings for the second straight year by taking fifth at the NCAA Championships with a 9.30. The junior had a huge meet at the Big Eight Championships, scoring a career best in the all-around (57.30) to place second, while winning the still rings (9.75) and finishing second on the vault (9.55). He scored a season best on horizontal bar (9.775) at NCAA West Regionals. Against Ohio State, Kieffer tied teammate Richard Grace for first on the still rings (9.70). Kieffer's 57.05 all-around score against Iowa earned him fourth place and helped the Huskers to their 10th-best team score in school history. At the Stanford Invite, he won the vault (9.55) and tied Grace for first on the rings with a 9.55. Kieffer was named to Phillips 66 Academic All-Big Eight Honor Roll for the second consecutive year.

1993: Sophomore Season
At the NCAA Championships in Albuquerque, N.M., in the team qualifying round, Kieffer posted a team-best 9.45 on the rings. He finished second on the still rings at the Big Eight Championships with a 9.55, and his score of 9.45 on the parallel bars was good enough for third place. Kieffer competed in four events at the NCAA West Regional with his best score coming on the floor exercise (9.30). He won the still rings with a 9.65 in a triangular with Iowa State and Oklahoma in Ames, Iowa, on Feb. 20. At the Big Eight Invitational, he was second on the horse and third on the still rings (9.65). Kieffer set a season best on the vault at New Mexico with a 9.35.

1992: Freshman Season
Kieffer gave NU a consistent rookie season as he appeared in every regular-season meet with six all-around performances. In a dual with New Mexico on March 8, Kieffer kept pace with teammate Dennis Harrison as they both recorded a 9.80 on the still rings, a regular-season team best.

Personal:
The son of Robert and Judy Kieffer, Richard was born Oct. 4, 1972, in Bossier City, La. The mechanical engineering major and 1991 graduate of Austin's McCallum High School has a twin brother, Robby, and a sister, Amy.
