2006 (Senior):  Scored a team-high 8.25 on the still rings at the Rocky Mountain Open to move on to the event finals for the first time in his career ? Finished third in the still rings (8.85) in NU’s loss to Iowa on Feb. 12 ? Set a season-high score of 8.10 on the high bar against Minnesota on Feb. 18 ? Continued setting top scores against Oklahoma on March 5 with a team-high score of 8.95 on the rings as well as a season high of 8.30 on the pommel horse ? Earned the first event title of his collegiate career against Air Force on March 19 with top honors on the still rings (8.90) ? This title was the only on the rings for the Huskers in 2006...Set a career-high mark of 9.025 on the still rings at the MPSF Championships ? Advanced to the event preliminaries on the still rings at the 2006 NCAA Championships for the first time in his career.

2005 (Junior): Hacker spent the first half of his junior season competing on the still rings, parallel bars and high bar for Nebraska before being added to the pommel horse roster about mid-season ? Put up strong pommel routines for the Huskers after the switch and banked a career best score of 8.95 at the MPSF Championships ? Landed a career-high mark of 8.90 on the high bar against Minnesota on March 6, the second highest score Nebraska saw on the apparatus in the competition ? Joined the Huskers at the NCAA Championships in West Point, N.Y. and marked scores of 8.075 on the pommel horse and 8.55 on the high bar to help Nebraska to a ninth-place team finish.

 

2004 (Sophomore): Hacker, originally scheduled on just three events, saw action across the board in 2004 ? Earned a career-high score of 50.75 during his first collegiate appearance in the all-around at the West Point Open on January 30 ? Added an 8.75 on the pommel horse and an 8.65 on the still rings to his personal-best all-around score for a total of three career highs at the West Point Open ? Tied for the most personal bests of any Husker, with one in every event except the floor exercise ? Grabbed another pair of bests on the parallel bars (8.80) and high bar (8.90) against Oklahoma, Michigan and Minnesota during the Oklahoma Quadrangular on February 21.

 

2003 (Freshman): As a freshman, Hacker was a strong competitor on the pommel horse and still rings, setting season-high scores of 8.70 and 8.20, respectively ? Steadily improved on both events, earning high scores at home against Air Force and Minnesota ?  Provided depth on the parallel bars against Air Force, stepping up and scoring an 8.35 ? Recorded a score of 8.55 on the pommel horse, the third-highest mark for the Huskers on that event in the meet at the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships ?  Competed on the pommel horse and earned a score of 7.65 as part of the Nebraska lineup at the NCAA Championships.

 

Prior:  Competitive in both high school and club gymnastics, Hacker earned four letters in high school with the Fairfax Rebels under Coach Carlos Vasquez.  Hacker also led his team to the <?xml:namespace prefix="st1" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags"?>Virginia Class A state championships as a junior in 2001, and a second-place finish as a senior in 2002.  His club team, Capital Gymnastics Center in Burke, Va., won the state championship four years running, while he placed second in the all-around competition at regionals as a sophomore and at the state championships his junior year.  In 2002, Hacker competed at the Junior Olympic national championships for the sixth year in a row, finishing 36th overall.

 

Personal: The son of Dan and Mary Hacker, Ray was born March 21, 1984, in Singapore.  He has one younger brother, Kevin, 11, and is majoring in finance. Hacker is the first Husker to join the team from Virginia (Fairfax) since Wes Suter, a former Olympian, Nissen-Emery Award winner and five-time NCAA All-American, who competed from 1983 to 1986.
