1999: Senior Season
Jim Koziol turned in a successful senior season, earning All-America honors with a sixth-place finish on the still rings at the 1999 NCAA Championships...placed 11th in the all-around at the NCAA Championships with a score of 56.90...earned fifth-place all-around at the NCAA West Regional (56.45)...placed 14th in floor exercise, 12th in pommel horse, fourth in still rings, 14th in vault, 19th in parallel bars and 17th in horizontal bar at the West Regional...finished second on pommel horse (9.725) and fourth on floor exercise (9.50) in a dual against No.4 Iowa...strained left bicep during his still rings routine against Oklahoma...recognized as third-team CoSIDA Academic All-American...was a Nissen-Emery Award Finalist.

1998: Junior Season
After missing the 1997 season, Koziol returned to the Husker lineup, competing in every meet as a junior...placed fourth on rings (9.675) at the NCAA Championships to earn his first All-America award...competed in the all-around on four occasions with a season-high 56.50 against Iowa...ranked 10th nationally on rings with a Regional Qualifying Score (RQS) of 9.75...scored a 9.50 or higher on all 12 of his routines, including a career-high 9.775 against Ohio State...took first against the Buckeyes and at the Rocky Mountain Open (9.70)...qualified for the NCAA Championships on floor exercise with an 11th-place finish at the West Regional (9.575)...was fourth on the team with a 9.428 average on floor exercise, including three scores of 9.55 or higher...set his then-career high of 9.65 against Ohio State...scored a 9.40 or higher in eight of his nine pommel horse routines, including a 9.65 against the Buckeyes...also had season highs of 9.40 on high bar, 9.50 on parallel bars and 9.10 on vault...earned NACGC Scholastic All-America honors with a 3.89 GPA during the 1997-98 school year.

1997: Medical Redshirt
Koziol had shoulder surgery before the 1997 season, forcing him to take a medical redshirt...named to the Big 12 Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll both semesters.

1996: Sophomore Season
Koziol had a solid sophomore season, despite being slowed by a partially torn bicep muscle and sore back...was the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Gymnast of the Week on two occasions (Feb. 21, March 27)...finished fourth on still rings with a 9.53 score at the MPSF Championships...posted team's best all-around score in five of his seven competitions...recorded a 56.60 or better three times, including a career-best score of 56.95 against Ohio State...had career-high marks on the floor exercise (9.525), still rings (9.75) and parallel bars (9.65) against the Buckeyes...won the Team 2000 all-around title at the U.S. Winter Cup (53.45)...took first in all-around against New Mexico with a then-career-best score of 56.60...established personal bests on the pommel horse (9.75) and the horizontal bar (9.60) at Iowa.

1995: Freshman Season
Koziol showed flashes of brilliance in his initial season with the Huskers...was slowed much of the season by shin splints, but still managed to contribute on pommel horse, still rings and parallel bars for the NCAA runner-up Huskers...scored a season-best 9.65 on the still rings during the NCAA Team Finals...tied for seventh on the parallel bars with a score of 9.55 at the West Regional...equaled his season best on the parallel bars (9.65) to help NU record its season high in that event (38.85) at the MPSF Championships...competed in the all-around four times, with a season-best 55.15 at Penn State...set a season best on the high bar (9.35) against the Nittany Lions...recorded a season-best still rings mark (9.60) at New Mexico...named to the 1995 Big Eight End-of-the-Year Academic Honor Roll.

Previous:
Koziol is a product of the Cahoy School of Gymnastics in Omaha and trained with former Husker All-American Phil Cahoy for seven years.  He captured the all-around title at the National High School Gymnastics Championships in May 1994.  Koziol also earned Academic All-America recognition while at Millard South.

Personal:
The son of John and Jeanie Koziol, Jim was born Nov. 27, 1975, in Omaha.  A biological sciences major, he has two brothers, John and Jeffrey.  Koziol maintained a 3.66 grade-point average.
