2009: Co-captain James Mauldin was a top competitor on pommel horse, still rings and parallel bars for Nebraska during his senior season. Mauldin earned season-high scores of 14.65 on pommel horse, 14.95 on still rings and 14.40 on parallel bars. Mauldin tied for second on pommel horse at the Rocky Mountain Open with his season-high score of 14.65. He went on to earn a third-place finish on parallel bars with a score of 14.30 against Minnesota. He earned another second-place finish on pommel horse against Illinois-Chicago with a score of 13.75. He notched a score of 13.80 on pommel horse and season-high score of 14.40 on parallel bars at the 2009 NCAA Championship team qualifying round and was one of seven Huskers to advance to the event preliminaries. During event preliminaries, Mauldin earned his second-best score of the season with a 14.05 on pommel horse, while posting a 12.65 on parallel bars.

Mauldin earned a spot on the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll in the fall of 2008 for the first time in his Husker career. 

 

2008: During his junior season, Mauldin competed on pommel horse, still rings and parallel bars. He earned his then-career-high score of 14.35 on still rings against Oklahoma before notching 13.70 on parallel bars at the Stanford Open. He tied Nebraska’s Anthony Ingrelli for second place on still rings with a score of 14.30 at Minnesota before topping his then-career-high score on still rings with a14.65 for third place against Iowa. His still rings routine continued to see improvement as he tied his career high on rings against Air Force. Mauldin finished off the year with a new career-high score of 14.75 on still rings at the NCAA team preliminaries for 16th place.

2007: Mauldin filled in on several events for the Huskers in 2007 and eventually became a strong force on the pommel horse, still rings and parallel bars lineups for NU and competed for the second consecutive season at the NCAA Championships. Mauldin earned a season high against Stanford on March 4 with a score of 8.45 on the parallel bars and went on to post his best meet of the season against Air Force on March 17, setting then-career-high marks on the pommel horse (8.40) and still rings (8.50). His score on the pommel horse earned him third place, marking his first trip to the podium as a Husker. Mauldin competed at the NCAA Championships, where he posted a season-high mark of 8.65 on the still rings to help the Huskers to a 10th-place overall finish.

2006: Mauldin made his collegiate debut at the Rocky Mountain Open on Jan. 13 on the still rings. He earned a season-high score of 8.25 on the parallel bars against Air Force on March 19 and went on to compete on both the still rings and parallel bars at the 2006 NCAA Championships.

Prior: A native of Racine, Wis., Mauldin competed with the Midwest Twisters under the direction of Coach Jay Carey before coming to Nebraska.

Personal: James was born to Rick and Mary Mauldin on June 7, 1987, and has one older brother, Greg. A graduate of J.I. Case High School, James is majoring in architecture at Nebraska.
