2014 (Senior)
In his final competitive season at Nebraska, C.J. Schaaf continued to contribute scores in all six events at various times throughout the season. He returned to his former position in the all-around at the beginning of the season, competing in all six events in the first three meets. After some lingering injuries suffered mid-season, Schaaf consistently continued to make appearances in the pommel horse and vault lineups, competing each event six and seven times respectively throughout the year.

The Houston, Texas, native showed improvement by achieving a personal best score of 14.80 on still rings against Minnesota and Illinois on Feb. 1, 2014. Schaaf also returned to the NCAA Team Qualifiers and helped NU to a fifth place team finish during the second session of qualifying competition.

At the Big Ten Championships, Schaaf earned Nebraska's Big Ten Sportsmanship Award for the 2014 season as voted on by his teammates and coaches.

The senior art major continued to be a leader in the classroom for NU, earning a spot on the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll for the 2013-14 academic year. Schaaf also earned Academic All-Big Ten accolades for 2014.

2013 (Junior)
C.J. Schaaf returned to all-around competiton for the 2013 season. He competed in all six events during six of the eight regular season meets, consistently finishing with an all-around score of 80.40 or higher.

The Houston native also set four personal best scores throughout the season. He bested his top all-around score of 80.90 at home against Oklahoma. He added three points, setting his personal record at an 83.90. He also set new career records on pommel horse, parallel bars and high bar throughout the year.

During the postseason, Schaaf competed as an all-arounder for the Huskers at the Big Ten Championships. The junior had a personal best performance for the season on vault, earning a 14.50.

A standout in the classroom, Schaaf earned multiple academic awards during the 2013 season, including first-team Academic All-American honors. He also recieved the Big Ten Distiguished Scholar award and made the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll during both the fall and spring semesters.

2012 (Sophomore)
Schaaf was the only Husker to compete on pommel horse at every meet in 2012. He produced a career-high 13.70 at the Big Ten Championships in Iowa City, Iowa.

Schaaf was also one of two Huskers to compete in the still rings lineups the entire season. He opened the 2012 campaign with a career-best 14.50 at the Rocky Mountain Open in Colorado Springs. He produced six scores of 13.50 or higher in the event during the season, including a 13.90 at the Big Ten Championships and a 13.70 at the NCAA Team Qualifiers in Norman, Okla.

He also competed on vault and parallel bars throughout the year. He posted a career-high parallel bars score of 14.30 against Arizona State on March 4.

2011 (Freshman)
Schaaf competed on all six events during his freshman season at Nebraska. He opened the year as an all-arounder in NU’s first three competitions, including a career-high 80.90 to begin his career at the Rocky Mountain Open on Jan. 15. 

He added an 80.70 at Minnesota, before posting a 79.55 in his Devaney Center debut against Air Force on Jan. 30.

Schaaf was limited by injuries the rest of the season, but regularly competed on three to five events for the Huskers. After sitting out the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships with injuries, he returned to unleash a season-best 14.20 on still rings at the NCAA Team Qualifier. He added a 13.00 on pommel horse in his only other event at the 2011 NCAA Championships.

Schaaf produced a career-high 15.60 on vault in a triangular with Oklahoma and Illinois-Chicago at the Devaney Center on Feb. 13.  He added a career-high 14.40 on floor against the Sooners and Flames. 

He contributed a season-high 14.00 on parallel bars against OU and UIC, which he matched six days later at Iowa. He posted a career-best 13.95 on high bar against Air Force on Jan. 30, the last time he competed on the event during his freshman season. He produced a season-high 13.50 on pommel horse in NU’s regular-season finale against Minnesota and Iowa on March 19.

Before Nebraska 
Schaaf trained under Coach Tom Medows at the Cypress Academy, in Houston, Texas. An accomplished gymnast at the national level, Schaaf placed 13th at the 2009 Visa Championships.

Personal
Christopher (C.J.) Schaaf was born on April 27, 1992 to Tim and Donna Schaaf of Houston, Texas. C.J. has one sister, Nickie. C.J. is an art major and was a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar in 2013. He claimed academic All-Big Ten honors in 2014, and earned spots on the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll each of the past five semesters.
