2010: Despite rigorous off-season training, Adrion Hernandez suffered a knee injury prior to the 2010 season. Hernandez is ahead of schedule in his therapy and is working to crack the high bar lineup during his senior year.
"Adrion could very well make the high bar lineup before we're said and done," Coach Chuck Chemlka said. "He had a great summer. He worked hard all summer. He really trained for this season, so it was really sad when he got hurt. We'll see what happens."
2009: Hernandez did not compete during the 2009 season because of an injury, but remained active in student-athlete activities as a 2009 NCAA National Student-Athlete Development Conference selection.
2008: Although Hernandez did not compete during the 2008 season due to injury, he continued his academic success with a Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll selection in the fall semester.
2007: A walk-on at Nebraska in 2007, Hernandez was not expected to compete for the Huskers as a freshman. However, the Round Rock, Texas, native quickly proved he could be an asset on several events and competed in the majority of Nebraska's meets throughout the season.
Hernandez competed on the floor exercise, vault and high bar in 2007, earning career-high marks of 8.20, 8.20 and 8.35, respectively.
Prior: An impressive club performer, Hernandez trained under Coach Yuejin Sun and Brandon Kays at Alamo Gymnastics in Round Rock, Texas. During his career, Hernandez was a two-time member of the Junior Olympic National Team, a two-time member of the Future Stars national team and a three-time Region III team member. In 2001, Hernandez finished 11th in the all-around at J.O. Nationals before adding a pair of seventh-place finishes on the parallel bars and high bar in 2002. A 2005 graduate of Round Rock High School, Hernandez was a two-time academic All-American.
