2005 (Senior): A consistent ring competitor for the Huskers, Tietze marked career-highs in the event six times during his senior season. At the NCAA Championships on April 7, Tietze landed his career-high score of 8.80 to end his career at Nebraska. In Nebraska’s season opener, Tietze was one of six Huskers to qualify for the event finals of the Rocky Mountain Open where he earned eighth-place overall with an 8.40 on the still rings.
2004 (Junior): Tietze competed on Nebraska’s pommel horse and still rings squads. Tietze put up a score of 8.45 on the pommel horse against Iowa for a career high in that event, while his highest still rings score for 2004 came in NU’s first meet of the season, the Rocky Mountain Open, where he earned an 8.35.
2003 (Sophomore): Tietze provided depth on the pommel horse where he set a season-high mark during the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships with a score of 8.35. Tietze showed continual improvement throughout 2003, making his first appearance at a national meet, when he posted a score of 8.10 on the pommel horse during the team competition of the NCAA qualifier.
2002 (Freshman): Tietze was one of two walk-ons to the Nebraska gymnastics program in 2002 and proved successful on the vault and parallel bars, setting season-best marks of 8.90 and 8.70, respectively. Tietze competed in every meet, helping the Huskers to a win over Air Force in their last regular-season meet.
Prior: A product of the Cypress Academy of Gymnastics, the same gym as former Husker Grant Clinton and current NU gymnast Paul Chumreonlert, Tietze competed for Coach Bill Foster, Colby VanCleave and Tom Meadows before coming to Nebraska. He is a three-time Junior Olympic Nationals qualifier, placing 57th in the all-around in 2001. Tietze also won the Texas Class 3 State Championship in 1998.
Personal: Adam is the son of Bill and Luann Tietze and has one older brother, B.J., 24. Adam was born April 21, 1983, in Houston, Texas. Tietze is a history major and a three-time member of the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll and a 2004 MPSF Academic all-conference selection.
