2022 (Junior)
Liam Doherty-Herwitz competed in nine meets for the Huskers during the 2022 season. He helped NU to a second-place conference finish and fourth-place national finish.
Outside of the gym, Doherty-Herwitz was named an Academic All-Big Ten selection.
2021 (Sophomore)
Doherty-Herwitz joined the Huskers as a sophomore gymnast after competing at Cal-Berkley during his freshman year. Doherty-Herwitz earned spots on the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll in the fall and spring semesters of 2020-21.
2020 (Freshman)
Prior to competing for Nebraska, Doherty-Herwitz was a member of the Cal-Berkley men's gymnastics team.
Before Nebraska
Doherty-Herwitz competed for Brestyan’s gymnastics in Burlington Massachusetts. At the 2018 Junior Olympic National Championships, Doherty-Herwitz finished first on vault, second on floor, and ninth in the all-around competition. He was also a competitor at the 2018 U.S. Gymnastics Championships and Region 6 Championships. In 2017, Doherty-Herwitz finished fourth on floor and sixth on vault at the Junior Olympic National Championships. He also competed at the 2017 Massachusetts State Championships where he finished first on high bar, second on vault, and third in the all-around competition.
Personal
Liam, a native of Bedford, Massachusetts, is the son of Alexander Herwitz and Kathleen Doherty. Liam has two sisters, Kiera and Ariel, and one brother, Christian. Liam is an environmental studies major who earned his bachelor's degree from Nebraska in May of 2023. He is a two-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree and a three-time Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll selection.
