2010: Co-captain Kyle Shanahan provided strong leadership and versatility for the Huskers during his senior season. A Nissen Emery award finalist, Shanahan headed into the 2010 NCAA Championships ranked 17th-nationally on parallel bars, 15th on high bar and seventh in the all-around. Shanahan put up huge numbers for the Huskers in 2010, including team-best scores of 15.20 on floor, 14.90 on paralle bars and 15.20 on high bar. Shanahan captured five event titles in the regular season, including one all-around title against Ohio State, UIC and Air Force on Feb. 21. He also posted nine top-three finishes on the year. Shanahan wrapped up his time at Nebraska at the 2010 NCAA Championships, where he competed in the team qualifiers and the event preliminaries.

2009: Shanahan competed in nearly every meet for Nebraska on five events before adding a sixth event to become an all-arounder at the 2009 NCAA Championships. His score of 85.10 in the all-around in the NCAA team-qualifying round earned him a spot in the second-day event preliminaries. Shanahan earned a season-high score of 85.25 in the all-around at the event preliminaries, but did not advance to event finals. In addition to his success in the gym, Shanahan earned academic All-MPSF honors.

2008: Shanahan emerged as one of the Huskers' top all-arounders during his sophomore season. He earned his first top finish in the all-around with a score of 87.30 against Iowa. Shanahan captured the all-around title for the second consecutive week against Air Force with a career- and team-high score of 87.45. Despite a late-season injury, Shanahan bounced back and ended his stellar sophomore season as a strong all-around competitor at the 2008 NCAA Championships.

2007: Shanahan was the only NU freshman to see time as an all-arounder in his first season. Shanahan notched a team-high mark of 9.35 on the floor exercise at the Stanford Open, the highest floor score by any Husker in two years. He ended the season much as he began it, setting career-high scores on the pommel horse (8.45) and high bar (8.80) at the 2007 MPSF Championships before contributing for the Huskers at the 2007 NCAA Championships.

Prior: Prior to coming to Nebraska, Shanahan competed for the Colorado Training Center and received national recognition with an invitation to the 2005 and 2006 Winter Cup, as well as competing at the U.S. Qualifier in 2005 and 2006. Shanahan is a three-time member of the U.S. Junior National Team.
