Shamus McKnight joined the Nebraska Athletic Department in 1997 and currently serves as Assistant Athletic Director/Communications. McKnight coordinates and serves as the media liaison for the men’s basketball program, serves as a secondary contact for the football program and assists with promotion of several Olympic sports at Nebraska. He also works on other department initiatives, including “A Night at the Lied” and Nebraska’s CSC Academic All-America nomination process, as he was on the organization’s Academic All-America committee for nearly two decades. McKnight previously served as a sport administrator for the baseball program.
At Nebraska, McKnight has been responsible for media guides across six sports that have earned “Best in the Nation” awards from the College Sports Communicators (CSC). He has served as host communication director for NCAA Championships in volleyball and men’s gymnastics. He also served on Nebraska’s on-site communications team for two football national championship games, three College World Series, four NCAA Baseball Super Regionals as well as NCAA or conference events in baseball, women’s gymnastics volleyball and men’s and women’s tennis. McKnight has been a part of the NCAA Men’s College World Series Media Coordination team since 2006 and has served as the official scorer of the CWS since 2013.
McKnight is a 1996 graduate of Baldwin-Wallace University. He and his wife, Melissa, have two stepchildren, Alison and Morgan.
