2009-10 Outlook
Three-time NTCA All-American Cassandra Leuthold (pronounced LOOTH-old) enters her senior season at Nebraska as one of the most decorated bowlers in Husker history. She has captured seven first-place tournament finishes in her collegiate career and was named the 2007 NTCA Rookie of the Year.
In addition to her success at Nebraska, Leuthold also earned a spot on the 2009-10 Junior Team USA after finishing third at the USBC Junior Gold Championships.
"Cassie qualified through performance to make another Junior Team USA," Nebraska Coach Bill Straub said. "She is as good of player there is in the country. We're thrilled she's with us. Leuthold had a stellar season for the Huskers, as she earned three first-place finishes on the season before capturing the prestigious Most Outstanding Player award at the 2009 NCAA Bowling Championships.
Leuthold began the 2008-09 campaign on the right note with a 200.20 average for first place at the Warhawk Classic. She continued her success at the Maverick Challenge, where she notched a 204 average for another first-place finish. Leuthold then posted a season-high average of 212 for fifth place at the Capital City Collegiate Classic. Leuthold captured her third first-place finish at the Morgan State Invitational, where she rolled a 211 average. She rounded out the regular season at the Music City Classic with an average of 200 for third place.
Nebraska's anchor at the 2009 NCAA Championships, Leuthold led NU to its third NCAA title in six years. Leuthold earned prestigious Most Outstanding Player honors for her efforts in the 2009 NCAA Championships and captured first-team NTCA All-America honors.
2007-08 Review
Leuthold came out rolling in her first tournament of the season at the Cheeseland Classic, earning her first title of the year with a 210 average. She went on to claim the Most Valuable Player award with a third-place finish and a 205 average at the Maverick Challenge.
Leuthold captured her second individual title of the season at the Ozark Invitational, before placing third at the Mid-Winter Classic with a 208 average. She rolled a total pinfall of 12,593 on the year over a total of 61 regular-style games for a team-high 205.70 average.
2006-07 Review
Leuthold became a respected name in college bowling after her first year of competition. She captured four top-five finishes, including two individual tournament crowns. She averaged a score of 202.60 over 14 games during the Maverick Challenge and then topped the competition at the Ozark Invitational, where she averaged a collegiate-career high 230 over seven games. She competed in all nine tournaments, including the 2007 NCAA Championships, where she averaged a 226.20 over four games for a fifth-place finish. In July 2006, Leuthold placed second at the Gold Championships in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., earning a spot on the 2007 Junior Team USA.

Before Nebraska
Leuthold had an outstanding prep career at Rapid City Central High School. Not only was she a seven-time Central High Bowler of the Year, Leuthold was also the 2005 Alberta E. Crowe Star of Tomorrow award winner, an esteemed award given to the top high school bowler in the United States and Canada. In high school, Leuthold rolled two 300 games and a high series of 770.
Personal Information
The daughter of W.J. and Stephanie Leuthold, Cassandra was born on May 1, 1987, in Amarillo, Texas. Leuthold, a chemical engineering major, graduated from Rapid City Central High School in 2005. In addition to bowling, Leuthold was a letterwinner on her high school rifle team and placed first in ladies marksmanship at the 2003 J.R.O.T.C summer camp. She has one older brother, Jim.
