2018-19: Sophomore

Isaac Nortey went 11-15 overall (9-13 Spring, 3-8 Big Ten) in his sophomore season at Nebraska, playing mostly out of the No. 5 spot. Nortey partnered with junior Chris Dean for a team-best 6-5 doubles record, including a 2-1 mark in Big Ten Conference competition.

Nortey's most remarkable win came against Eli Ogilvy of Minnesota on March 24, when the Ghana native earned a come-from-behind win to clinch the match against the No. 18 Gophers, marking NU's first ranked win since April 17, 2016 -- when it beat No. 59 Purdue -- and first victory over a top-25 opponent since March 13, 2010, when it knocked off No. 23 BYU. ]

2017-18: Freshman

In his first season at Nebraska, Nortey posted an 11-10 singles record, playing primarily out of the No. 5 position. The native of Ghana was one of four Huskers scheduled to return in 2018-19 who finished the 2018 campaign with a winning record. Nortey joined Toby Boyer (26-14), and Linus Erhart (23-10), who will both be seniors, and future junior Chris Dean (13-9), in that group. Nortey went 1-5 in Big Ten singles competition.

Nortey formed a successful duo with fellow freshman William Grattan-Smith, as the pair posted a 6-5 spring record playing primarily in the No. 3 doubles spot. The newcomers opened the season with five consecutive wins before suffering their first loss at Arizona on Feb. 17. Nortey also competed alongside Boyer, Chris Dean and Rok Krizaj, concluding the doubles season at 6-7 overall and 0-4 in Big Ten play.

Nortey’s most impressive win came near the end of the season, when the Huskers went to Michigan State on April 21. Playing out of the No. 6 spot, Nortey battled back from a 3-6 setback in the opening set to storm through the second and third sets, 6-3, 6-3 to defeat Spartan freshman and five-star recruit John Carlin. Nortey’s win was key in Nebraska’s 4-3 victory over Michigan State.
