Sophomore (2022-23)
Madison Lloyd cruised to a pair of top-eight finishes at the mid-season Hawkeye Invitational with a 2:04.48 in the 200 backstroke and a 4:29.02 in the 400 IM. She added a 15th-place effort in the 100 backstroke with a 58.45. At the Omaha dual, Lloyd posted a 59.66 in the 100 backstroke and a 2:07.78 in the 200 backstroke to place third in both. Through the first duals, Lloyd produced a fourth-place 200 backstroke finish at Kansas in 2:06.82, while taking fifth in the event against Iowa State (2:07.65) and in a double-dual against Minnesota and South Dakota (2:08.02). Lloyd added another top-five finish at the competitive double-dual, taking fifth in the 100 backstroke with a 59.65. 

In duals with Illinois and Rutgers, Lloyd pitched in two sixth-place finishes in the 100 backstroke, a seventh-place finish in the 400 IM and two eighth-place finishes in the 200 backstroke.

Lloyd capped off her year with season-best times in all three of her events at the Big Ten Championships, including a career-best 2:04.14 in the 200 IM to place 38th. In the 400 IM, Lloyd finished 29th with a 4:26.10 and she added a 31st-place finish in the 200 backstroke with a 2:00.98.

Freshman (2021-22)
In Lloyd’s collegiate debut she swam to a 200 IM title, placed fourth in the 100 breaststroke and was a member of the third-place 200 medley relay in Nebraska’s season-opening dual win over South Dakota State (Oct. 2). She contributed in a big way again for the Huskers in their Big Ten dual victory over Iowa at the Devaney Natatorium (Oct. 23). Lloyd raced to an individual title in the 200 backstroke after swimming to a runner-up finish in the 100 back stroke against the Hawkeyes. She helped the Huskers to their largest margin of victory against a Big Ten opponent in school history.

The Mizzou Invitational was highlighted by Lloyd putting up finishes in the top-10 in four different events. This included finishing eighth in the 100 backstroke (56.69), ninth in the 200 IM (2:04.43), 10th in the 400 IM (4:28.05) and 10th in the 200 backstroke (1:58.78). Lloyd wrapped up dual season swimming two career-best times (100 backstroke, 400 IM) against Rutgers, placing third in the 400 IM (4:24.70) and fourth in the 100 backstroke (56.02). She added a runner-up finish in the 100 backstroke and claimed third in the 200 backstroke at Illinois.At her first conference meet, Lloyd swam in three individual events and notched her top finish in the 400 IM, finishing 32nd with a 4:25.40.

Before Nebraska
Lloyd was a three-time Texas UIL Class 6A state finalist in the 100 backstroke, finishing fourth in 2020 and 2021 after taking eighth as a sophomore in 2019. Her effort helped her earn NISCA All-America honors in the 100 backstroke in 2020. She raced to a 55.55 in the 100 back to take second at the Texas UIL Class 6A Regional Championships in 2020. Lloyd swam to a time of 1:58.82 in the 200 back at the 2019 Speedo Winter Junior Championship West. She posted a 50-yard backstroke time of 26.90 at the Gulf Swimming Southern Senior Championships in November of 2018. She also posted a 50 free time of 24.23 as a member of the Kingwood High School 200 relay team at the 2021 UIL 6A District 21 Championships. She swam a 50 back time of 26.43 as the leadoff swimmer in the 200 medley at the 2021 UIL 6A District 21 Championships.

She added NISCA All-America honors as a member of Kingwood’s 200 free relay team in both 2019 and 2020, and as a member of the 200 medley relay in 2020. She was also an NISCA All-American as a freshman as part of Kingwood’s 400 free relay team in 2018. Lloyd helped Kingwood to a state runner-up team finish in Austin in 2020 and a No. 7 NISCA national team finish. She swam club for Blue Tide Aquatics.    
    
Personal
The daughter of Harold and Dawnshannon Lloyd, Madison was born Sept. 19, 2002, in Baton Rouge, La. She has two younger sisters, Kennison and Molly. A psychology/sociology major, Madison was a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar and an Academic All-Big Ten choice in 2023. She is a three-time member of the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll. She is a two-time Tom Osborne Citizenship Team selection. She chose Nebraska over Indiana and Arkansas. 

“The moment I met the team and coaches, I knew Nebraska was the place for me,” Lloyd said. “I cannot wait to be a part of the Husker family. I loved the coaches, athletic staff and team environment. Of all of my visits, the girls at Nebraska were very welcoming and I felt like I fit in right away.”
