2020-21: Sophomore
Albert Sprlak-Puk was impressive for the Huskers during his sophomore season. Sprlak-Puk tied for second on the team with ten total victories and five singles wins and ranked third on the team with four doubles victories. Sprlak-Puk posted a 5-14 singles record during the spring, with wins over Indiana, Wisconsin and Minnesota. Among his six victories was a win over Iowa’s Jason Kerst that clinched the overall match win for the Huskers and marked their first win of the season. Sprlak-Puk competed at every singles position accept No. 1 and No. 6 and posted a 0-0 record at No. 2, a 1-4 mark at No. 3, a 2-3 record at No. 4 and a record of 1-1 at No. 5. In doubles play, Sprlak-Puk finished 4-15 on the season.
2019-20: Freshman (Year of Eligibility Restored Due to COVID-19 Pandemic)
Sprlak-Puk gained valuable experience during a freshman season that was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He had a solid fall season, posting a 4-5 record in singles play. Sprlak-Puk played consistently throughout the spring, competing in 11 singles matches to earn the third-most spots in the lineup of any Husker. He also proved to be one of Nebraska's top doubles players. Sprlak-Puk went 8-9 in doubles action, leading the team with his eight victories. Following a 5-3 doubles record in the fall, Sprlak-Puk led Nebraska with three doubles wins during the spring.
Before Nebraska
Sprlak-Puk battled his way to a pair of titles and five semifinal appearances while competing on the ITF junior circuit in Europe from 2016 to 2019. He won the 2017 Bavarian Junior Championships in Cadolzburg, Germany, after capturing the 2016 Krka Open in Slovenia. The talented player from Brno, Czech Republic, reached as high as No. 176 in the ITF junior rankings.
Personal
The son of David Sprlak-Puk and Andrea Sprlakova Pukova, Albert was born Sept. 20, 1999. Albert is majoring in sports media and communication. He was a member of the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team in 2021.
