Nebraska Takes Fifth at NCAA Championships

The No. 2 Nebraska rifle team wrapped up the 2026 NCAA Championships, placing fifth with a score of 4,736 after the final day of competition. NU tied for fourth with Kentucky, but the Wildcats had more inner tens.

Freshman Katlyn Sullivan shot a score of 599 in the preliminary round, which qualified her for the finals round, where she placed second with a score of 249.9.

“I’m proud of the way the team battle this weekend. While the outcome wasn’t what we had hoped for there were a lot of really great things to come out of it. Katlyn stepped up in a really big way helping leading the way in both guns and securing a second place finish in the individual final. With a young team the experience gained this weekend is crucial to our program development and I’m extremely excited to see what this group does next season!”

Sullivan’s score of 599 led the team in the air rifle portion of competition. Emma Rhode and Maddy Moyer shot scores of 595. Aliva Perkins (593) and Carley Seabrooke (592) rounded out the air rifle field for the Big Red.

West Virginia grabbed the gold with an aggregate score of 4,748, followed by TCU placing second with its score of 4,741, and Ole Miss, which tallied a 4,738. Kentucky narrowly defeated the Huskers, with a tied aggregate score of 4,736. The tiebreaker was determined by the number of tens shot by each team. NU (4,736), Navy (4,722), Alaska-Fairbanks (4,718) and Georgia Southern (4,717) rounded out the field for the 2026 NCAA Championships.
