Huskers Conclude Fall at Steelwood Collegiate

The Nebraska men’s golf team will conclude the fall portion of its 2026-27 fall season at the Steelwood College in Loxley, Ala. 

The two-day, 54-hole event at the par-72, 7,096-yard layout at the Steelwood Country Club gets underway with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. (CT) on Saturday, where teams will play two rounds. The teams will compete in Sunday’s final round, beginning with tee times at 8 a.m. (CT).

Jackson Benge, who will golf out of the No. 1 spot in the Husker lineup, has led Nebraska on the course the last three tournaments. In his last outing at the Quail Valley Collegiate, Benge compiled a three-round total of 218 (+2) to tie for 40th. 

Graduate Evan McDermott will compete in his second tournament of the fall after producing a tie for 76th at Quail Valley on Oct. 19. McDermott grossed a 54-hole total of 226 (+10) with rounds of 75-79-72. 

Gavin Gerch, a junior out of Lincoln Southwest, has strung together a solid fall season for the Big Red. Gerch last competed for Nebraska at the Blessings Collegiate on Oct. 5, where he tied for 48th with a three-round score of 246. 

Caden Mickelson and freshman Jaxson Hinze will round out the Nebraska lineup in Alabama. Mickelson tied for 47th at the Quail Valley Collegiate in his last outing, while Hinze tied for 43rd at the Blessings Collegiate.
