Junior (Nebraska, 2026-27)
Gavin Gerch returned to his hometown for his first season as a Husker in 2026-27. A two-time Nebraska High School Super-State selection after a pair of third-place individual finishes at the Class A tournament, Gerch has been reunited with high school teammate Thomas Bryson on the Husker roster.
Gerch is one of six Nebraska natives on Nebraska’s nine-player roster in 2026-27, joining Bryson, fellow junior Jackson Benge (Omaha Westside) and freshmen Zack Erstad (Lincoln East), Jaxson Hinze (York) and Tommy Kelley (Omaha Creighton Prep).
After spending his first two collegiate seasons at Creighton, the junior opened his Nebraska career by earning a lineup spot at the New York Harbor Cup (Aug. 31-Sept. 1). Gerch was the Big Red's No. 2 finisher at the tournament, tying for 38th at 221 (+8). He posted Nebraska's best 18 holes of the event with his opening-round 69 (-2) on the 7,106-yard, par-71 layout at the Bayonne Golf Club in New Jersey. He added rounds of 75 and 77.
Gerch followed with a tie for 36th at 215 (+2) at the Bearcat Invitational in Cincinnati, Ohio. (Sept. 14-15). He was Nebraska’s No. 2 finisher at the 18-team event with rounds of 71, 73 and 71 on 7,279-yard par-71 layout at the Coldstream Country Club
Sophomore (Creighton, 2025-26)
Gerch closed his second season with the Bluejays by tying for 25th at the BIG EAST Championship. He posted a season stroke average of 74.42 over 26 rounds.
Freshman (Creighton, 2024-25)
Gerch captured a spot on the BIG EAST All-Tournament Team after tying for fourth at the conference championship. He closed the year with a 74.42 stroke average.
Before Nebraska
Gerch tied for third at the Nebraska Class A state tournament as both a junior and senior in 2023 and 2024, earning spots on the Super-State team both seasons. He matched current Husker Jackson Benge in a tie for third in 2023 after rounds of 69 and 73. He tied for third again with rounds of 71 and 73 as a senior in 2024. He was also the Heartland Athletic Conference Tournament champion in both 2023 and 2024, before adding a Lincoln Public Schools championship in 2024.
Personal
Gavin is a finance major. His father, Andy, starred for the Nebraska baseball team, earning a spot on the 2005 College World Series All-Tournament Team after being named the outstanding player of the 2005 Lincoln Regional. He was also a member of the 2005 Big 12 All-Tournament Team, and closed his career as a member of the 2007 Tempe Regional All-Tournament Team for the Huskers.
