Rafiq Takes Home UTR Pro Tournament Title

Aniss Rafiq captured the title in the UTR Pro Tennis Tournament, defeating teammate Henry Lamchinniah in two sets (6-2, 6-4) to finish out the tournament in Lincoln. With the win, Rafiq took home the prize money of $2.2k from the 16-player prize money draw. 

Lamchinniah took home the second-place prize, falling to Rafiq. On the back draw of the playoff, Calin Stirbu took down fellow Husker Jeri Lassila, winning in two (6-3, 6-3) and taking third place. 

Jan Sebesta went on to win his playoff stage over Joseph Lee, in three sets (1-6, 7-6, 7-6) taking fifth place in the tournament. 

Micah Ward was the final Husker to round out the tournment, dropping his match in a three set battle vs. Maddox Lundell (3-6, 6-1, 6-7). 

UP NEXT
Nebraska men's tennis will make a quick turnaround, as the Huskers will host the ITA Regional Championships at the Sid and Hazel Dillon Tennis Center. The tournament will run from Wednesday, Oct. 7 to Sunday, Oct. 11 with qualifying play starting at 8 a.m. (CT) on Wednesday.
