The Nebraska soccer team battled No. 25 Iowa to a 0-0 draw on Sunday afternoon amidst rainy conditions in Iowa City.
Nebraska moved to 2-2-4 and 0-1-1 in the Big Ten, while Iowa moved to 5-2-2 and 0-1-1 in conference matches. The Huskers finished with 19 shots and outpaced the Hawkeyes in shots on goal (7-5) and corners (8-6).
An Iowa red card in the 26th minute left the Hawkeyes down a player for the rest of the match, but Nebraska could not capitalize and find the back of the net. Nebraska’s 19 shots marked the most allowed for Iowa this season.
Avery Gillahan started at goalkeeper for the Big Red and posted her third shutout in four matches, finishing with five saves. Ava Makovicka attempted a season-high four shots, including one on target. Nathalie Lewis added three shots, which were all on goal.
Carson Bohonek tallied three shots, including a narrowly missed goal in the 56th minute.
Nebraska returns home to host No. 12 Washington on Sunday, Sept. 20, at 1:05 p.m. inside Barbara Hibner Stadium. The match will be streamed on B1G+.
