LINCOLN, Neb. – Indiana’s Maggie Ledwith scored in the 88th minute to lead the Hoosiers to a 1-0 victory over Nebraska soccer on Thursday evening at Barbara Hibner Stadium.
Nebraska fell to 2-2-3 and 0-1-0 in the Big Ten with the loss, while Indiana moved to 4-2-1 and 1-0-0 in each team’s conference opener. Ledwith was assisted on the goal by Grace Hamm and Haden Vlcek.
The Hoosiers finished with 12 shots to Nebraska’s 11, including a 6-to-3 lead in shots on goal. Ava Makovicka and Nathalie Lewis led the Huskers with two shots each, including a shot on goal from Makovicka in the first half. Sadie Sant also recorded a shot on goal for NU.
Despite allowing the late goal, the Nebraska defense delivered another strong outing, holding Indiana to zero corners. Avery Gillahan started and played all 90 minutes in the net, finishing with five saves. Dani Jacobson earned the win in the goal for the Hoosiers, recording three saves.
Nebraska will face No. 25 Iowa in Iowa City on Sunday, Sept. 13, at 1 p.m. The match will be available on the Big Ten Network.
