Nebraska Athletics announced Friday that Husker Track and Field Coach Justin St. Clair has signed a contract extension that runs through the 2031 season. The program has also finalized the coaching staff with the addition of two assistants for the 2026-27 season.
St. Clair earned his contract extension after leading the men’s and women’s track and field squads to top-10 finishes at outdoor nationals in the spring. The Huskers earned two individual outdoor national titles with Axelina Johansson winning shot put and Dyson Wicker the pole vault titles, becoming the ninth and 10th national champions under St. Clair.
“Justin St. Clair has built a track and field program positioned to continue to ascend at the Big Ten and national levels,” Director of Athletics Troy Dannen said. “Justin has everything you want in a head coach. He develops world-class athletes, is an outstanding recruiter and leader, and has been a great representative of Nebraska both locally and in the track and field community. Behind the leadership of Justin and his staff, combined with our championship facilities the future is bright for Nebraska Track and Field.”
After five years as the permanent head coach of the Nebraska track and field team, St. Clair expresses his commitment and excitement to continue with the program.
“There's no place like Nebraska. The level of support, vision, and commitment to our student-athletes is remarkable. I am grateful to Troy, our administration, and our entire athletic department for entrusting me to continue leading our program now and into the future. We have assembled a staff committed to raising the standard within the Big Ten Championships and at the NCAA Championships. We are excited to get our team back on campus and continue building something special together."
Nebraska track and field has also announced the hirings of Kareem and Jackie Streete-Thompson who will join the coaching staff following their time at University of Texas-San Antonio.
Kareem Streete-Thompson was the associate head coach at UTSA for eight seasons. The former Olympian who represented the Cayman Islands will be a sprints and horizontal jumps coach for the Big Red.
He competed in three Olympic Games, qualifying in both the 100m and long jump for the Cayman Islands. Streete-Thompson also competed in seven World Championships and his highlights include a silver medal in the long jump in 2001 and qualifying for the 100m final in 1999. He holds numerous national records for the Cayman Islands and was the first athlete to win Pan-American, Central American and Caribbean and Commonwealth titles for his home country.
Streete-Thompson holds personal-best marks of 9.96 in the 100m dash and 28-3 ¾ (8.63m) in the long jump and he and Carl Lewis are the only athletes to ever to run under 10 seconds and jump beyond 28 feet.
Jackie Streete-Thompson served as the primary long sprints and hurdles coach at UTSA coaching her athletes to 10 school records as well as 15 conference championships in the span of eight years. Before her time at UTSA, Streete-Thompson spent eight seasons at Florida State where she helped lead the men’s track and field team to three consecutive national titles from 2006-08. She also had stints at Sacramento State as the horizontal jumps coach, Idaho as an assistant coach and Missouri as a volunteer assistant.
"I am thrilled to welcome Kareem, Jackie and their two daughters to Nebraska,” Justin St. Clair said. “Kareem and Jackie bring a wealth of experience, success, and knowledge that will continue to elevate our program. Both have achieved the highest levels of success throughout their careers, and I look forward to working side by side with them as we continue building something special at Nebraska."
