Nebraska track and field athletes Hencu Lamberts and Kelsie Belquist earned Big Ten Track and Field weekly honors on Wednesday.
Lamberts was named Big Ten Men's Field Athlete of the Week and Big Ten Men's Freshman of the Week, while Belquist was honored as Big Ten Women's Track Athlete of the Week.
Lamberts won the shot put crown at the Desert Heat Classic with a mark of 20.18m (60-2 ½). His mark is a personal best, No. 3 in the Big Ten and No. 4 the NCAA. It also ranks as the fifth best throw in program history. Lamberts is a three-time Big Ten Outdoor Freshman of the Week this season.
Belquist won the 400m Hurdles at the Desert Heat Classic with a new PR of 55.60. Her time is No. 2 in Nebraska school history, No. 1 in the Big Ten and No. 6 in the NCAA.
The Huskers host the Nebraska Spring Tune-Up on Friday at 12:30 p.m. at the Nebraska Outdoor Track.
