Nebraska Announces Naming of Rhonda Revelle Field

Nebraska Athletics announced on Saturday that the Nebraska softball field at Bowlin Stadium has been named Rhonda Revelle Field to honor the Huskers’ long-time head coach.

Husker Director of Athletics Troy Dannen made the announcement on the field on Saturday afternoon following Nebraska’s 13-0 victory over Iowa in the regular-season home finale.

“This is a most deserving honor for one of the truly great coaches and people in the history of college softball,” Dannen said. “Rhonda Revelle is Nebraska Softball. She has won more games than any coach in the history of Nebraska athletics and her sustained success speaks for itself. We are proud that all future Husker home softball games will be played on a field bearing Rhonda’s name.”

Revelle is in her 34th season guiding the softball program at her alma mater and has led the Huskers to more than 1,200 victories. Revelle is the winningest coach in Nebraska Athletic history (male or female) and was inducted into the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2010. She has the third-most victories of any active Division I head coach.

Revelle took over as head coach in 1993 and has led the Huskers to 23 postseason appearances and three Women’s College World Series (1998, 2002 and 2013). Revelle has been a part of more than 75 percent of the games in the history of the Husker program, including every game at Bowlin Stadium which opened in 2002. Revelle and longtime associate head coach and fellow Husker alum Lori Sippel have combined to be a part of 90 percent of Nebraska's all-time victories.

Revelle was a three-year letterwinner while a student at Nebraska, reaching the first Women’s College World Series and was named a 1982 All-Big Eight selection.

The Huskers’ victory improved NU to 40-6 on the season and capped an impressive 15-1 regular-season home record at Bowlin Stadium. Over its 20-game home schedule, Nebraska averaged 2,610 fans this season in Lincoln, the best attendance mark in school history.
