The No. 61 Nebraska men’s tennis team will host its final homestand this season at the Sid and Hazel Dillon Tennis Center in Lincoln facing Penn State on Friday, April 17 at 5 p.m. (CT). NU will then take on No. 2 Ohio State on Sunday, April 19 at 12 p.m. for Senior Day in Lincoln.
The Huskers will honor their five seniors prior to the match vs. Ohio State.
Nebraska comes into its final home matches off an 0-2 road trip to Indiana. The Huskers dropped their match at Purdue (4-1) and then traveled to take on #64 Indiana, losing that match in Bloomington (4-0).
Entering the final week of the regular season, leading the way for the Huskers in singles play is sophomore Colson Wells who holds a 12-9 record playing at the No. 3 and 4 spots this season. In doubles, senior Leo Linquet continues to lead record wise with a 12-7 record and an 8-4 record when partnered up with junior Henry Lamchinniah who carries with him 12 doubles wins of his own.
The Rankings
After dropping its matches vs. Purdue and Indiana, Nebraska men’s tennis dropped just three spots to a No. 61 team ranking in the ITA National Rankings. The Husker squad was featured at No. 58 having three ranked wins featured on their resume. In singles, senior Nikolay Sysoev holds on to a No. 122 ranking with a 9-12 overall record.
Penn State (16-11, 3-11 Big Ten)
History: The series between Nebraska and Penn State is tied at 7 all with the Huskers taking the 5-2 win over the No. 59 Nittany Lions.
Penn State with a 3-8 Big Ten record has wins over Purdue, No. 69 Northwestern and Washington. The rest of the Nittany Lions wins come at home where they hold a 13-5 record.
Ohio State (25-3, 10-1 Big Ten)
History: Ohio State stands undefeated against Nebraska leading the series, 17-0. In their last meeting, the Huskers dropped their match vs. the No. 3 Buckeyes, 7-0.
Jumping between No. 1 and No. 2 in the ITA National Team Rankings, Ohio State has shown another impressive season standing tied for first in the Big Ten Conference with a 10-1 record. The Buckeyes' only Big Ten loss comes to No. 46 Michigan State, who also sits atop the Big Ten. This Ohio State squad has also recorded 16 sweeps in its 2025-26 season.
Ranked Opponents
Ohio State will bring five ranked singles players and four different ranked doubles pairs. In singles, Aidan Kim starts off the singles rankings at No. 12 with a 13-10 record, No. 24 Jack Anthrop is next with a 25-7 record, right behind him is No. 26 Preston Stearns with a 19-6 record, No. 47 Alex Okonkwo is next with a 14-6 record and rounding out the singles opponents for the Buckeyes is No. 87 Nikita Filin who has a 27-5 singles record. In doubles, the Buckeyes start with a top five doubles pair of No. 3 Brandon Carpico/Filin with a 32-5 record, next is No. 35 Alexander Bernard/Okonkwo with a 22-8 record, then No. 43 Kim/Byrce Nakashima carrying a 24-6 record and finally No. 81 Anthrop/Loren Byers who hold a 3-1 record.
