The No. 58 Nebraska men’s tennis team dropped its match vs. Indiana, 4-0, in its last regular-season road match on Sunday at the IU Tennis Center in Bloomington, Indiana.
NU took a ranked win in doubles at No.1 but dropped three singles matches.
A beautiful outdoor match in Bloomington started off with doubles as the Huskers gained steam at No. 1 and 3. Joan Torres Espinosa/Leo Linquet (NEB) featured at No. 2 doubles today but were not able to take their match as they fell to Facundo Yunis/Jip van Assendelft (IND), 3-6. Courts 1 and 3 were battled out until the finish as Henry Bilicic/Nikolay Syosev (NEB) were able to complete the top-40 ranked upset over No. 37 Michael Andre/Matteo Antonescu (IND) in a nailbitter, 7-5 to tie the doubles point up forcing the pressure to court three.
Colson Wells/Henry Lamchinniah (NEB) paired up for the first time this season at No. 3 as they battled it out in a tiebreaker match vs. No. 68 Sam Landau/Braeden Gelletich (IND) for the doubles point in this match. Ultimately, the ranked Indiana squad showed out in the tiebreaker taking it, 7-6 [7-3] as Indiana took the doubles point over Nebraska.
As Nebraska trailed 1-0 going into singles play, it started by the Huskers taking four out of the six first sets. Within the two first sets that were lost both matches were completed in two sets with Linquet dropping his match at No. 2, 4-6, 2-6 vs. Andre. Almost immediately after, Wells lost his match vs. Yunis in straight sets, 2-6, 4-6 to give the Hoosiers a 3-0 lead.
Niels Van Der Sijs was yet again in a deciding match of his own at No. 5 battling in a third set, but came up short losing his match vs. Aidan Atwood, 6-2, 2-6, 1-6 clinching the match for Indiana, 4-0.
Sysoev’s, Lassila’s and Espinosa's matches were all declared unfinished.

Nebraska will head home for its final regular-season duals of the season. The Huskers will take on Penn State on Friday, April 17 at 5 p.m. (CT) at the Sid and Hazel Dillon Tennis Center before they take on top-ranked Ohio State for senior day on Sunday, April 19 at 12 p.m. (CT).
