Two Nebraska bowlers were named to All-Conference USA teams announced Wednesday. Senior Jillian Martin earned first-team honors while sophomore Karina Capron was a third-team selection in voting by the conference coaches.
Martin finished the regular season with an 8,989 pinfall through 41 games. Her season average of 218.7 per game ranks third on NU’s single-season average list. She placed first at the Big Red Invitational - just one of her four top-five finishes. She also achieved a season-high game of 277 at the Chelsea Gilliam Penguin Classic. Martin ranks second nationally in player composite performance index at 98.475 percent.
Capron ended her regular season with a pinfall of 7,672 through 38 games with a season average of 201.5. She posted four top-20 finishes, including a 10th place finish at the Stallings Invitational. Her season best score was a 248 at the Northeast Classic.
The Huskers will play next against No. 20 Duquesne for round one of the NCAA Pittsburgh Regional on Friday, April 3, at 9 a.m. (eastern).
