In the final stretch of the 2026 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships, the Nebraska Cornhuskers accumulated two second-team All-America awards in the swimming and diving prelim sessions.
Abby Baxter and Gena Jorgenson each reached finishes worthy of All-America awards on the three-meter board and in the 500 freestyle, respectively.
Concluding her time as a Husker, Jorgenson, the dominant distance swimmer, earned the first second-team All-America of the day in the 500 free. After a historic season for the senior, the 14th-place finish marked a career best in the event and her fourth All-America title.
Breaking the school record just weeks previous at the 2026 Big Ten Championships, Jorgenson’s 4:38.77 represents a drop in time of 0.38 from her time of 4:39.15, as well as a school record.
Until this year, swimmers could compete in the evening session for the B finals. Places ninth through 16th are now awarded with honorable mentions in the All-America category.
On the three-meter springboard, Abby Baxter recorded a score of 312.15. The junior from Coppell, Texas, finished 20th at nationals last year with a score of 290.45.
Her 11th-place finish represents the best finish for a Husker diver in the event since Abi Knapton accomplished a 15th-place position in the event’s 2019 NCAA Championships. Her placing
Hungarian swimmer, Beatrix Tanko, notched a 22.36 in the 50 free prelims. Setting the school record at the Hawkeye Invite in November, Tanko swam a 22.17 for a second-place finish. From a 46th seed, Tanko moved up to a 39th-place finish in the event.
To complete the NCAA Championship competition, Kelsey Clairmont will compete in the platform dive to conclude her time at Nebraska. Tanko will round out her inaugural championships in the 100 freestyle.
Streaming on ESPN+, prelims begin at 9 a.m. CT, with diving trials starting at 11:15 a.m. CT. Finals will resume later at 5 p.m. and can be followed on MeetMobile.
