The Huskers concluded action at the Heartland Invitational, Tyson Invitational and Husky Classic on Saturday.
A school record from Berlyn Schutz and event winners, Axelina Johansson (women’s shot put invitational), Donna Douglas (women’s shot put), Cade Moran (men’s shot put invitational), Karsyn Leeling (women’s high jump invitational), Mason Kooi (men’s high jump invitational) and the women’s 4x400m relay team highlighted the day.
At the Husky Classic, Schutz shattered her own school record in the women’s mile, running 4:27.71 en route to a third-place finish.
Jaylee Wingate ran a personal best 2:06.11 in the women’s 800m, earning a sixth-place finish. Sydney Drevlow added a PR of her own, running 2:10.24.
The Big Red took first in the women's 4x400 (Abrielle Artley, Victoria Aransiola, Sakena Massiah, Kelsie Belquist), running 3:37.11.
Artley finished fifth in the women’s 400m, running 54.61.
Douglas started off the day in Indiana winning the women’s shot put title, throwing 16.47 (54-0 ½).
Johansson won the women’s shot put invitational title with a mark of 18.83 (61-9 ½). Mine De Klerk threw 17.78m (58-4), locking in a third-place finish.
Moran added another shot put title in the men’s invitational, throwing 20.02m (65-8 ¼). Hencu Lamberts finished in fifth with a mark of 18.41m (60-4 ¾).
Leeling cleared 1.86m (6-1 ¼) in the women’s high jump invitational, winning the event title and tying for sixth in school history. Ela Velepec followed closely behind, clearing 1.83m (6-0) to finish second.
Kooi cleared a season’s best 2.19m (7-2 ¼) to win the men’s high jump invitational. Desire Tonye Nyemeck cleared 2.07m (6-9 ½), finishing in third.
Arina Razina earned a second-place finish in the women’s pole vault invitational, clearing 3.95m (12-11 ½).
Grant Wasserman led off the action in Arkansas with a third-place finish in the men’s 5000m, running 14:45.22.
Ashmika Korala used a season’s best mark of 15.59m (51-1 ¾) to earn a seventh-place finish in the men’s triple jump.
Both Dennis Chapman (4:06.92) and Kaleb Sharp (4:07.09) ran personal bests in the men’s mile finishing fourth and fifth, respectively. On the women’s side, Alea Hardie added a PR of her own, running 4:52.67.
Rhianna Phipps jumped to a third-place finish in the women’s triple jump with a mark of 13.33m (43-8 ¾).
The Huskers will return home for the Nebraska Tune-Up on Friday, Feb. 20th. Events will start at 12:25 p.m.
