Babineaux Leads Huskers in Opening Round in Florida

Kaleigh Babineaux shot an opening-round 72 to lead the Nebraska women's golf team on the first day of the UCF Challenge presented by PDI in Orlando.

Babineaux, a freshman from Austin, Texas, put together an even-par round on the 6,392-yard layout of the Eagle Creek Golf Club to help the Huskers close the day at 296 (+8) in 12th place in the 16-team field.

Junior Hannah Kono contributed a 74 (+2) to head to Monday's second-round in a tie for 44th, while freshman Ailis Tribolet and sophomore Eden Lohrbach each posted rounds of 75 (+3) to tie for 54th and complete Nebraska's opening-round team score.

Redshirt junior Lauren Thiele rounded out the Husker contingent with a 77 (+5) to end the day in a tie for 74th in a 96-player field.

The UCF Challenge - presented by PDI will continue with Monday's second round, which is scheduled to begin with a shotgun start at 10 a.m. (CT).
