Hamish Murray produced Nebraska's best individual finish since the Huskers joined the Big Ten in 2011-12, tying for 15th at the men's golf conference championship in Maryland on Sunday.
Murray, a senior from Sydney, Australia, finished with a 213 (+3) over three rounds on the par-70 layouts of the Five Farms East Course of the Baltimore Country Club. He opened with a 72 (+2) on a 6,969-yard layout on Friday, before firing a 69 (-1) on a 7,177-yard course Saturday. He closed with a 72 (+2) on a 7,022-yard layout on Sunday, concluding Nebraska's best individual conference finish since Brady Schnell tied for third at the Big 12 Championship in 2007.
Sophomores Rudy Sautron (Reunion Island, France) and Evan McDermott (Spring Lake, Mich.) tied for 50th at 221 (+11), while graduate Reed Malleck (York, Neb.) closed his Nebraska career in a tie for 65th at 223, including an eagle on the 586-yard, par-5 fourth hole in Sunday's final round. Sautron added an eagle of his own on the 606-yard, par-5 12th hole on Sunday.
Freshman Brodie Cunningham (Glasgow, Scotland) rounded out the Husker contingent by tying for 82nd at 227 (+17), while his final-round 75 (+3) was Nebraska's second-best individual score on Sunday.
As a team, Nebraska finished 13th with a three-round total of 874 (+34) in the 18-team field. The Huskers closed six strokes back of No. 27 Northwestern, which took 12th. NU defeated Iowa, Michigan, Washington, Penn State and Rutgers.
No. 12 UCLA rallied to take the conference title on Sunday, pushing past No. 13 Illinois to win by a single stroke. The Bruins teamed for a 282 (+2) on Sunday to finish the tournament at 842 (+2). Illinois took second at 843 (+3), after totaling 291 (+11) in the final round. Michigan State took third at 854 (+14), while Oregon finished fourth at 855 (+15) and Ohio State rounded out the top five at 857 (+17).
UCLA's Omar Morales captured the Big Ten individual title with a 54-hole score of 203 (-7), while Oregon's Greyson Leach claimed runner-up honors at 206 (-4). Both golfers carded even-par rounds of 70 on Sunday.
