Freshman (2024-25)
Brodie Cunningham is coming off the best tournament of his young collegiate career with a tie for third at the Bell Bank "Pay It Forward" Collegiate in Litchfield Park, Ariz. (March 24-25). Cunningham capped a career-best three-round total of 209 (-7) with a career-best round of 69 (-3) on the par-72, 7,021-yard layout of the Gold Course at the Wigwam Resort. The freshman from Glasgow, Scotland opened the tournament with back-to-back rounds of 70 (-2) to set up the first top-five finish of his Husker career. His tournament performance included eagles on the par-5, 535-yard 14th hole in both the second and third rounds.

Cunningham's effort in Arizona followed a tie for 13th with a 141 (+1) in the weather-shortened Johnnie-O at Sea Island (March 17-18). He opened with an even-par 70 on the 6,933-yard Sea Island Course in St. Simons Island, Ga. He added a second-round 71 (+1) to close as Nebraska's No. 2 finisher.

He made a strong collegiate debut by finishing 13th in a 65-player field at Nebraska's Git-R-Done Invitational (Sept. 23-24). Cunningham covered a par-71, 7,003-yard layout at Firethorn Golf Club in Lincoln with a three-round total of 212 (-1) that included an opening-round 70 and back-to-back rounds of 71 while playing as an individual in Nebraska's "B" lineup at the tournament.

His performance in Lincoln helped him earn his first collegiate lineup spot at the Badger Invitational in Verona, Wis. (Sept. 29-Oct. 1). Cunningham finished in a tie for 63rd in a 90-player field with a 228 (+12) overall, but his opening-round 73 and second-round 72 both counted toward Nebraska's team score in the five-count-four event. He played his first five collegiate rounds at 73 or better, before struggling to an 83 in the third round at Wisconsin.

He returned to Nebraska's lineup to open the spring season as NU's No. 3 finisher at the Palmas Del Mar Collegiate in Humacao, Puerto Rico (Feb. 9-11). Cunningham tied for 32nd individually with a three-round total of 218 (+2), including an opening-round 71 (-1) on the 7,122-yard layout of the Flamboyan Course at Palmas Del Mar Country Club. He closed with rounds of 74 and 73 to help the Huskers tie for seventh in a 14-team field.

Cunningham owns a 72.00 stroke average over 14 rounds for the Huskers in 2024-25.

He is one of two international golfers among Nebraska’s four newcomers for the 2024-25 season, joining sophomore Rudy Sautron (Reunion Island, France). Cunningham, who signed with the Huskers as a 16-year-old from Scotland in November of 2023, posted a pair of wins in international events during a three-week span in the summer of 2023, including the Barrie Douglas Scottish Junior Masters and The Foundations Trophy at Blairgowrie Golf Club.

He added another win at the Barrie Douglas Scottish Junior Masters Championship in 2024 in early June, before tying for second at the European Boys Amateur Team Championship (Division 2) in Krakow, Poland in July. He added a top-10 individual finish at the 2024 Scottish Boys Open Championship in April, taking eighth.

He also competed at the Scottish Men’s Open Championship at Muirfield in May of 2024, managing rounds of 72 and 73.

Less than three weeks later, he added a victory at The Foundations Trophy at Blairgowrie Golf Club in Scotland with a four-round total of 285 that included a third-round 67.

He added a fourth-place individual finish at the European Boys Team Championships in Slovakia, while also finishing sixth at the ProDreamUSA Junior Masters at Pollock Golf Club in Scotland in early July. Overall, he produced seven top-10 individual finishes in 16 European tournaments from April to October of 2023.

Personal
Cunningham, who enjoys playing the bagpipes, is majoring in finance and earned a spot on the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll in the fall of 2024.

“I chose Nebraska because of how well they treat their student-athletes in regards to helping them within the classroom, gym, nutrition and much more,” Cunningham said. “Along with that is how nice the people are at Nebraska. They are constantly investing in their academic and athletic departments, which means they are always improving.”
