Nebraska improved to 2-0 with an 80-46 victory over Samford on Saturday in Lincoln. Britt Prince led the Huskers with a game-high 23 points on 10-of-13 shooting. Through two games, the Nancy Lieberman Award candidate out of Elkhorn North High School is averaging a team-best 21 points on 68 percent shooting from the floor. The 5-11 sophomore point guard from Omaha has hit 4-of-6 threes early in the season to lead the Big Red in that category.

Junior Jessica Petrie added a career-high 20 points to go along with five rebounds in the win over the Bulldogs. The 6-2 power forward from Gold Coast, Australia is averaging 15.5 points and 6.0 rebounds per game in her second season as a starter for the Huskers.

Sophomore Petra Bozan also contributed a career high with 13 points in the win over Samford. The 6-3 forward from Split, Croatia averaged 12.0 points and 4.5 rebounds last week in the first two starts of her career, replacing four-time All-Big Ten center Alexis Markowski.

Fellow sophomore Amiah Hargrove added more punch in the post by recording her second career double-double with 12 points and a career-high-tying 11 rebounds against the Bulldogs. The 6-2 forward from Christopher, Ill., added a career-best three steals in a career-high 29 minutes off the bench in the victory. She is averaging 8.0 points and 8.0 rebounds through two games.

Petrie and Hargrove have solidified Nebraska's power forward spot while Katrina McClain Award candidate Natalie Potts continues her recovery from last year's season-ending knee injury. Potts, who was the 2024 Big Ten Freshman of the Year, averaged 17.5 points and 8.0 rebounds on 70 percent shooting through Nebraska's first four games a year ago, before suffering a knee injury against North Alabama (Nov. 19) and taking a medical redshirt for the 2024-25 season.

Senior guard Callin Hake and graduate guard Hailey Weaver led a strong defensive effort against Samford that featured 17 steals. Hake and Weaver eached snagged four steals, as the Huskers forced 27 Bulldog turnovers in holding their second consecutive opponent to just 46 points. Hake is averaging 9.0 points, 1.5 rebounds and team bests of 5.0 assists and 3.5 steals. Weaver has added 4.5 points, 2.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 3.0 steals in her first two games as a Husker after transferring from Northwestern.

Head Coach: Jim Flanery (Creighton, 1987)
24th Season at Creighton (454-276); 24th Season Overall (454-276)

Scouting The Creighton Bluejays
• Coach Jim Flanery brings his 24th Creighton team to Lincoln with a 1-1 record after splitting games last week with 2024 NCAA Tournament qualifiers South Dakota State (L, 62-78) and at Drake (W, 83-74).

• Flanery led the Bluejays to a 26-7 record that included a 16-2 BIG EAST mark last season that culminated with a 66-57 NCAA first-round loss to Illinois. It was CU's fourth straight NCAA Tournament appearance. All seven of Creighton's losses came at the hands of 2025 NCAA Tournament teams, including three to national champion UConn, and a fourth to NCAA Final Four participant UCLA.

• A new-look Creighton team comes to Lincoln after losing a lot to graduation, including its top three scorers in Lauren Jensen (17.8 ppg), Morgan Maly (17.3 ppg) and Molly Mogenson (9.1 ppg) who all started all 33 games for the Jays last season. Mallory Brake is also gone after starting all 33 games a year ago. She averaged 5.0 points, 4.3 rebounds.

• That starting quartet combined for 1,624 points, 627 rebounds, 375 assists and 148 steals. They also combined for 187 three-pointers (.395).

• While the Bluejays lost a lot of scoring, rebounding and experience from last year's squad, they return senior guards Kiani Lockett and Kennedy Townsend. Lockett, who started 30 games a year ago, comes to Lincoln averaging 17.0 points and 6.5 assists after pouring in 25 points in Sunday's win at Drake. Townsend, who came off the bench in all 33 games last season, has added 12.0 points and 4.0 rebounds while draining a team-best six three-pointers.

• Graduate transfer Grace Boffeli has joined the Jays to solidify Creighton's inside game. She is averaging 8.5 points and a team-leading 7.5 rebounds through two contests. Boffeli had 10 points and nine rebounds as a starter for UNI in a 77-57 loss to Nebraska at PBA in the 2023 WNIT.

• Elizabeth Gentry, a 6-3 sophomore center, has added 2.0 points and 3.0 rebounds in her first games as a starter. Gentry played just 69 total minutes, but managed 23 points in 19 games last season.

• Fellow sophomore Allison Heathcock has contributed 8.5 points and 3.0 rebounds as a first-time starter. The 5-11 guard played 30 games a year and hit 7-of-30 three-pointers.

• Five freshmen have provided support off the CU bench led by 5-10 guard Ava Zedicker, who ranks second on the team with 12.5 points per game. Zedicker has played starter's minutes (28.3 mpg) while hitting 54.5 percent (6-11) of her shots from the field, 60 percent (3-5) of her threes and 90.9 percent (10-11) of her free throws.

• Omaha twins Neleigh (8.5 ppg, 3.5 rpg) and Norah Gessert (1.5 ppg, 1.0 rpg) along with Kendall McGee (2.0 ppg, 2.0 rpg) and Serbian Tara Dacic round Creighton's freshmen contributors.

• Through two games, Creighton has averaged a solid 72.5 points per game but surrendered 76.0 per contest. The Jays are shooting just 38.3 percent from the field, but a strong 33.9 percent (20-59) from long range and 85.2 percent (23-27) from the free throw line. CU has been out-rebounded (38.5-36.5), but owns a plus-2.5 turnover margin, committing just 8.0 turnovers per game.

Nebraska vs. Creighton Series History
• Nebraska leads the all-time series with Creighton 31-19, but the Jays have won the last three meetings, including an 80-74 setback for the No. 21 Huskers at CU last season (Nov. 22, 2024).

• The Huskers led 55-52 after three quarters, and the game was tied at 66 after an Alexis Markowski putback, but Creighton outscored NU 14-8 over the final 3:54. Markowski recorded her 42nd career double-double with 26 points and 12 rebounds while becoming just the sixth Husker to reach 1,000 career rebounds. Britt Prince added 20 points and six boards.

• Lauren Jensen led Creighton with 31 points while playing the full 40 minutes, while Morgan Maly (18) and Molly Mogenson (12) combined for 30 more points. Mallory Brake contributed 11 points, six rebounds, three assists and four steals, as that quartet combined for 11 three-pointers.

• Creighton won in its last trip to PBA (Nov. 19, 2023), as the No. 22 Jays fought to a 79-74 win.

• The No. 22 Huskers dropped a 77-51 decision at No. 20 Creighton (Nov. 15, 2022), in the only meeting in school history where both teams were ranked in the top 25. It marked the first time Creighton was ranked in the history of the series.

• Nebraska’s last win in the series came with a 67-62 victory at PBA on Nov. 17, 2021.

• During the last nine games in the series, the Jays are 96-of-256 (.375) from three-point range, while Nebraska is just 34-of-152 (.224). CU is averaging 10.7 made threes per game during the stretch, while NU is averaging 3.8.

• Nebraska has not made more than five threes in a game against Creighton since a 75-67 Husker win in Omaha on Nov. 17, 2008 when the Big Red went 9-for-21. On the flip side, Creighton has made at least five threes every game against Nebraska since going 4-for-13 at the Civic Auditorium in Omaha on Dec. 3, 2000. Creighton won that game, 66-57. NU went 5-for-10.

• In the last 30 meetings combined, Nebraska has hit 101-of-377 (.268) for an average of just 3.4 made threes per game. Creighton has hit 231-of-688 (.336) for an average of 7.7 made threes in the same 30 games. Nebraska owns an 18-12 series edge during that span.

Huskers Celebrated Alumni Weekend
• Nebraska honored its women's basketball alumni at halftime of Saturday's game with Samford.

• More than 40 former players from across all decades of Husker women's basketball are expected to attended the festivities.

• The attendees included 10 of Nebraska's 1,000-point scorers, including Nebraska Athletic Hall of Famers and conference players of the year Karen Jennings and Maurtice Ivy, former WNBA draft picks Nicole Kubik and Kiera Hardy, Amy Stephens, Nafeesah Brown-Morrow, Cory (Montgomery) Barrett, Dominique Kelley-Johnson, Kate Galligan and Nebraska's first 1,000-point scorer Jan Crouch.

Nebraska By The Numbers
Callin Hake (101) played the 101st game of her Nebraska career in the Huskers' win over Samford. Hake tied career highs with seven assists and four steals against the Bulldogs.

• Hake (197) needs three assists to reach 200 in her Husker career.

Petra Bozan (199) needs one point to reach 200 in her Husker career.

Eliza Maupin (98) hopes to make her Husker debut against Creighton in her 99th career collegiate game. Maupin needs 10 points to reach 400 in her career. Maupin had three rebounds and a block in eight minutes off the bench in Kansas State's 86-68 win over Creighton last season in Manhattan (Nov. 14).

Kennadi Williams (67) scored the first points of her Nebraska career with her layup midway through the third quarter of Monday's win over Northwestern State. The Husker crowd, which included nearly 4,000 junior high students for the Sizemore Sportsmanship Pep Rally, erupted as the Huskers went to a timeout with 67 on the scoreboard. The celebration for 67 lasted two solid minutes through a timeout, before Williams sank a free throw to complete the and-1.

Kennadi Williams (10) added another highlight in her second game. She entered the game for the first time midway through the first quarter and immediately forced a turnover with a 10-second backcourt violation with one-on-one man defensive pressure in the backcourt.

Kennadi Williams (8) has eight assists through two games to rank second among the Huskers with 4.0 assists per game. Williams ranks 10th in the nation and third in the Big Ten with an 8-to-1 assist-to-turnover ratio through two games.

• The free sandwich must be claimed from the participating Lincoln Chick-fil-A restaurants within three business days of the game date.

She started all 35 games for the 23-12 Huskers, who advanced to the Big Ten Championship Game and the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

• Potts, who won 8-of-15 Big Ten Freshman-of-the-Week awards during the regular season, was the most consistent freshman in the conference from start to finish. Britt Prince claimed a spot on the Big Ten All-Freshman Team and honorable-mention All-Big Ten recognition from both the coaches and the media when awards were announced by the conference on March 4. Prince ranked second among the Huskers in scoring (13.4 ppg), while leading the Big Red in assists (3.8 apg) and steals (1.7 spg), which ranked 13th in the Big Ten. All six of her 20-point performances came on the road, while two of her three career-high eight-rebound efforts and both of her career-best eight-assist performances happened away from PBA.
