Huskers End Season With 1-0 Loss

The Nebraska soccer team finished its 2025 campaign on Sunday afternoon, falling 1-0 to the No. 13 Michigan State Spartans at Barbara Hibner Stadium.

The loss put the Huskers out of the Big Ten Tournament picture, and NU finished the season with an 8-5-5 overall record and a 3-5-3 mark in conference play. MSU is now 10-3-5 (7-1-3 Big Ten) and secured the second seed in the conference tournament.

Michigan State held the advantage in shots (19-10) and shots on goal (5-4), while the two teams tied with four saves apiece and NU won the corner kick battle, 7-3.

Reagan Raabe, Sadie Waite and Carson Bohonek each took two shots for the Big Red. Cece Villa (7-5-5) played the whole game in goal and had four saves.

Emerson Sargeant scored the lone goal of the game for MSU, assisted by Kennedy Bell in the 61st minute.

The first half was evenly matched, as MSU took 12 shots to Nebraska’s six, but the Huskers had four shots on goal and held the Spartans to just two.

Lauryn Anglim had a penalty kick opportunity in the 12th minute that was saved by the Michigan State goalkeeper.
